Hey Chuckie, check out boxing. Boxing is a simple and effective form of self-defense. You learn mobility, timing and technique while building up speed, power and stamina. Most decent amateur boxers can take out BB's in tkd/karate/kungfu.
Why? Boxers stay fit and get used to contact, so you won't get kod so easily. Also, boxing can be more afordable (no belt tests). From a good base in boxing you could easily transfer into muay thai.
