I have a different opinion on what to do.
First off, I would look at what you are doing in a different light.
I would emphasize defense instead of being more active. You can move around, but at times, it just opens you up for more submissions.
I'd try to improve my defensive skills if I were you.
Now you should ask, how do I do that?
Well, if you train with some advanced students, train with them and if they submit you, you immediately ask how or what you did wrong.
If you need to, take some private lessons.
I train with new guys and usually see what they are doing wrong and point out what they need to do or look out for.
If you have a friend with a video camera, tape yourself and sometimes, you look at the tape and it's obvious what you are doing wrong.
there are many ways to improve, just don't give up
