BJJ domination continues
The premier NHB show organized by newly founded Serbian Ultimate Fighting Council
took place on Thursday, March 6th in small town of Novi Sad, Serbia (some 50 miles from Belgrade).
This was also the 1st NHB show in Novi Sad. Some 4500 - 5000 spectators attended the event.
In addition to NHB tournament the audience also had the chance to enjoy in demos of various martial arts,
including : BJJ, Jeet Kune Do (JKD fighters also had one San Shou fight), Wrestling, Kyokushin Kai,
Capoeira, Ninjutsu, Okinawa Karate and Tae Kwon Do.
After 3 hours of non-stop fighting action and demos, it was a time for Grand Finale.
Both fighters were members of Jovan Zerjal Jiu Jitsu Team from Belgrade:
The defending champion - Miodrag Petkovich "Pele" and his teammate Miroslav Nikolich "Boske".
This was Nikolich's first NHB experience and he was the star of
The evening by dispatching his opponents in his first two fights under 5 min. total.
In his 1st fight "Boske" expressly defeated Slavko Jovovic (Kickboxing & Svebor).
As soon as the fight started Nikolich clinched with Jovovic and took him down, easily
established the mount and demolished him with a barrage of punches, forcing Jovovic to tap.
In his semifinal match Nikolich fought with freestyle competitor Slobodan Radosovich (who in his
1st fight soundly beaten Kickboxer Milan Filipovic with a flurry of elbows and knees from cross body
position). Nikolich initiated with solid right hand which send Radosovich to the canvas.
Radosovich regrouped and answered with single leg takedown forcing Nikolich to the corner of the ring.
Nikolich got out, they clinched again and Nikolich got the dominant position in the clinch, he unleashed
a devastating knee that broke Radosovich's nose, his corner man threw in the towel.
Since both finalists were members of the Jovan Zerjal Jiu Jitsu team, they agreed not to punch
each other and to fight Submission Grappling style.
Nikolich had the initiative and took Petkovich down with bahiana takedown.
Petkovich put him in a guillotine choke from half guard, but couldn't finish.
Nikolich passed his guard and attacked with collar choke from knee on belly
(Petkovich always fights with in his GI on), but "Pele" menaged to reverse him.
"Boske" attacked with a triangle choke and sunk it really deep and tight.
Petkovich defended himself and eventually passed Nikolich's guard and finalized with an armlock.
Next NHB show is planned for April 13th in Serbian capital Belgrade.
