True in MMA you can't bite eye gouge or use joint manipulation............. but MMA is still an excellent foundation. I constantly hear people say but what about there buddy you can't go to the ground if the guy's got buddy's. What happened to not being a Pussy and charging ass woopin's to tha game. I'm so sick of ****ing cowards trying to act hard just to have there friend bail them otu if you can't win your own fights your a bitch. You win some you loose some. Period. Don't act hard if every time you fight you get rocked and your friends have to help.RETIRE! AUTO mentioned something about what if they really try and hurt you...............WHY ELSE WOULD YOU BE FIGHTING! I want to break people from limb to limb, but I don't look for trouble it just seems to find me. Let it be known if you gotta hide behind a gun weapon friends your a bitch and you need to stay home. It's to bad people can't take ass woopin's any more. They're good for the soul

thats funny...18visions. That post doesn't seem to have the same "win a fight and make it home to your loved ones...loose and die" type attitude we've heard from you before.
Hmmm. The problem is...you can call someone a yellow belly all you want for attacking you with his buddies...but if you loose and die...they are still cowards...but you are dead. then again...fighting multiple attacters is hard no matter what you use...so what can a guy do? rough world. blah

It's a myth that empty hands are superior to weapons.

MMA is great. Period. Practical for street?? Depends on the person training and his mentality(p*ssy, non aggressive or just don't give a f*ck). Unfortunately, it's the "don't give a f*ck" guys that end up in prison.

A firearm is the best equalizer besides having a level head. I'm all about owning firearms,I just hate cowards who hide behind them. When I sadi I wanna break people limb from limb I mean if you try to mug me orput my family's life at risk. I don't look for trouble but being slim people want to try and duck me like we're in prison. I'm not MR. TOUGH GUY, I treat every one with respect and fighters with a little more all I want is the same in return is that too much??????? The only reson I consider myself a street fighter is becuz I'm not independantly wealthy I have to work my ass off to make ends meet. I also have a son that needs my love and attention,I don't run the streets like I use to cuz I'm a father unfortunatly my past comes back to haunt me. Every once in awhile I run into trouble from my past. anyways I don't have time or the extra money to go to a school, but I still lift weights every day run ,jump rope and hit the bag every day......actually I got the time just not the money. I'm not a street fighter cuz I'm thugged out. I think you all have a huge misconception of me. Put me in the ring with someone who has as much training time as me and you'll be surprised. Yes aschool would be nice ring fighting would eliminate street problems but I don't want to hurt someone for sport. If you try to hurt me or my family it's a nother story...does that make me a bad person I thought martial arts was about being able to defend yourself..........well atleast one aspect of martial arts anyway

no one should ever have to get beat up, but if your being a tough guy or in the wrong maybe you should. It's just gay people try to be tough when it's actually the 10 other guys with them. I'm just saying if your gonna ACT like a tough guy and run your mouth you shouldn't count on your buddys

THIS IS WHAT I MEAN
DARRINATION POSTED THIS SOMEWHERE ELSE but this is what I mean about I don't look for trouble ut it seems to find me
The Amateur:
The amateur is an “ego” based animal who is looking for a fight “just because.” To be preyed upon by the amateur you do not have to be doing anything wrong, you just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This beast is usually very identifiable;
- usually walks with attitude
- elbows pushed away from body
- verbally aggressive and rude to people within a few feet
- confrontations are usually triggered by eye contact
Some of the “Ritualized” combative signs that are apparent from the amateur prior to contact, but not limited to, include:
- splaying arms to express exclamation
- beckoning with finger
- nodding of head, usually accompanies finger beckoning
- bulging eyes
- acquires innate fighting stance
- will close distance during confrontation

TO CLARIFY MYSELF MR RYAN HALL
THE DIFFERENCE
I will start by sayin the same thing I say In a lot of threads, anyone who dedicates there self to something deserves respect. But the DIFFERENCE is in the ring you can tap out have the towel thrown in or whatever. On the streets you wont be so fortunate! I seen a guy throw a gay ass kick and broke his foot that was the first thing that happened. In the ring the fights done your foots busted your pride maybe hurt but you still go home! Unfotunatly this wasn't in the ring and the guy just about had his life stomped out of him. Yes the streets are full of scrubs who think there tough...........But what about people like me? I am a roofer and bust my ass up there damn near every day I still lift weights jump rope run kick the bag and punch the bag, And still got time to take my Son to the park or whatever. How many of you have ever done a Roof? The faster you go the more roofs you do the more$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's damn hard work but I love MMA and still have time and enegry to work train and be a father. Are you saying that since I do not have time or money to go to a school I am not a reputable fighter? Since I don't have ant trophys that say I'm tough I'm not? If you put me in the ring with the top dog I would probaly get worked but put me in there with somone with the same amount of training time and you might be surprised. I refuse to limit myself to rules in fighting I will stand and strike and if you are a better striker than I'm taking it to the ground if you beat me there than I need to train harder. Is it common sense that if somone is a better boxer than you don't box them? If there a better wrestler than you don't wrestle them?

The law of tyranny:
1. Any power that can be abused will be abused
2. Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it.
3. If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail.

mma and the street
I agree mma is good. On any given day anyone can be beaten. Just because you are a martial artist doesn’t mean you can’t fight on the street. Let me say all of us should avoid these confrontations for many reasons criminal/civil liability also injury.
Also people are always saying that boxing/karate etc. are not complete ma. MMA is closer to complete than most (as the argument goes) if you can strike and grapple then it stands to reason that you would win more fights than you could if you didn’t know these things. And yes strength and conditioning does play a very large roll in this. eighteen visions.
I think the main difference and the most neglected thing talked about here is the street fighting mentality. Psychologically there is deference between the dojo/tournaments/ring and street fighting. The killer instinct the reckless abandon and ferocity people may fight with. Shear determination + adrenalin can beat good technique (sometimes anyway). Not to mention weapons. But I would still rather be trained in ma than not. And even street fighting, it is well that you know some striking and ground fighting, Remember going to the ground may not be your choice but you need to be able to deal with it.
Quote from auto “If you practise for 'street', you MUST remember to eliminate every possible counter available to your opponent-or else- you may find yourself in the hospital. Limit his every option. Do not give him even the slightest opportunity to do you harm. This seems to be the problem encountered here in this forum. A lot of could have should have stuff without stopping to THINK about the reality of things.”
There is no way to eliminate all possible counters. I’m reminded of a book I read about the samurai there was this saying- a samurai says we train to die. That kind of sums up my thoughts on street fighting.
Here some more of that article that eighteenvisionas(cool name) quoted me on.
So who is the Street Predator? The answer is “anyone”, but the average inmate housed in the Canadian Correctional system for violent crimes is:
- male between the ages of 15-24 years
- 5’9” - 6’0” tall
- 175 – 190 lbs

Thanx for having my back
Eighteenvisions is a band, I don't know what kind of music you could classify it as but hard core is pretty close. If you don't know what that is it's kinda metal sounding kinda. check out there newest album Vanity. It's pretty good if your in to that style of music.
Moving on it's good to hear an opinion that's not biased to martial arts, either it being the best thing ever or vice versa

MMA & a gun will get you everywhere.
Ahhhh, but only if you're as pretty as Cardella is....
Auto,
earlier in the post you thought I was disagreeing with your vast array of experience in prison romance. I was not.
However, you seemed to be advocating the ability of 'limitiing the options of your opponent'. I can understand and appreciate this. However, I submit to your approval that it is easier by far to 'generate your own options' than it is to 'limit the options of your opponent'.
Does that clarify my position?
