  • kung fu movies are completely unrealistic

i know that its obvious and i shouldn't complain but sometimes its just too much.
big guy punches old women. BUT old woman knows kung fu, grabs the attackers arm does a quick movement and the guy flies into the air, does a somersault then lands on his back.
dont even get me started on the matrix (how many people have got hurt attempting those moves?)
i want to be entertained but cant they at least use a little realism?
rocky also suffers from the following: guy gets puched full power in the face 50 times, remembers some ancient wisdom (rocky: remembers friend getting hurt) then suddenly wins with a big spin kick (rocky: punch)
hong kong cinema, everyone knows kung fu, everyone can fly, if you kick something flour comes out (is it supposed to be dust?) old men know ancient styles (the older the better)
if only life was really like that...

    If only.....

That why I love martial arts films so much. The goodies beat the baddies. The martial artist can beat the ten thugs in the bar, and save the girl.

If all this happened in real life, then there wouldn't be any need for the "martial arts might not work on the streets" threads.

Its all make believe, it it did get me into the martial arts in the first place!

And let's not forget fighting games! Especially Tekken and Dead or Alive! That's really inspiring!

what amazes me is the fact that the goodies are allowed to go 2 on 1 or even 3 on 1 (2 and 3 being the goodies) where that would be considered unfair in the west

BTW I sewe the same thing(small lady big guys) during TKD demos same with kids

I used to do demos where 4 or 5 kidswork together to kick the shit out of me( if poeple like it I can put a video of it on a website for download)

It's amusement if it is to much for you then never watch the one armed swordsman, I think he killes more then 100 guys in one fight (on the bridge)

when i got my first issue of black belt magazine there was an insert in there about tiger and crane kung fu. the guy that was demonstrating the tiger kung fu looked like he wanted to ass rap someone. he both of his hand in front of his face his back hunched he was smiling and he made a claw with his hands. his crane looked like he was in the middle of a gay dance and he had no muscles just fat and when i mean fat i mean floppy fat. i seriously doubt that those kind of masters can do anything in an actual fight. i could probably dance and still bea them in a fight.

You mean that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon isn't a documentary? Damn, I'm quitting kung fu right now!
And I guess I should give up on my bullet dodging techniques..damn!

Honestly, the more absurd the fight, the more I enjoy it.

Make fun all you want. People actually call our school asking if we teach XYZ when these movies first come out.

In reality the crap they peddle in McDojo USA isn't TOO far removed from what you see in movies.....
