Would guys like Mas Oyama or Jon Bluming stand a chance in MMA

Hi people I ask myself something, would big guys like Masutatsu Oyama Or Jon Blumming stand a chance(in their haydays ofcourse) in a MMA event?
Oyama combined several arts into his Kyokushin, Blumming was a Judoman who wasn't allowed to compete against Geesink because of politics who during the 1950's started doing kyokushin and in the 1990's created Kyokushin Budokai, incorporating ne waza

No for Oyama. He would have been taken down and not known how to deal with it.

Never heard of the other guy but, as a grappler, would have had a better chance.


PS - all that Oyama killed bulls is just that, bull. Thats my opinion.

I saw some video of oyama wrestling a bull. I think it was on bullshido.us

The man was certainly strong as hell. In the clip i saw, he had a grip on the bull's horns, and just took it down.

He did chop of the horn but not in one strike( he did the trick more times but I believe he never did it in one chop
But understand, it's like the gracies competing in pride, promotion for your school/style


He didn't just do karate, Oyama did study judo too
And kyokushin karateka only lost in the finals of UFC1 to Gracie(and they knew the game already from Brazil)


Bluming was a judoka better than Anton Geesink, who was the first to beat the japanese at their own game during the olympics of 64 I think
Bluming wasn't allowed to compete because of politics in my country
during the 90 (and his 60's) he developed Kyokushin Budokai
Kyokushin karate combined with ne- waza not to compete in NHB events but because he felt for real life it is better
He's 10th dan Karate and a 9th dan Judo but also hold dan grades for arts like jodo
In his haydays he was a heavyweight with the speed of a middleweight

Hope this explains a bit aabout Jon Bluming, otherwise try a search on the web for his name there are several pages with info about him mainly from europe

Neither of them would stand a chance against any top MMA'er. Things have evolved too much since their time.
Just like Jack Dempsey wouldn't stand a chance against Roy Jones Jr. (did I open up a can on this?)

mas oyama and Jon Bluming would have stand a good chance in mma because they had legendary stand up and had a good back round in judo.

Asking how they would do if they were teleported from the 1960's into today's Octagon isn't that useful a question

Asking how they would do if they had access to today's training methods, sparring partners etc. makes more sense. My take on it is that they would do very well...

They would hold their own with their background training and a little modern day MMA training.
