I don't need to get in a ring and "PROVE" that I'm tough.......Yes I have fought boxers and what you said was true to a point. Did I get worked over? NO Why? Becuz I'm not 1 dimensional. That doesn't mean that I'm superior to boxers. I would't make a statement based without fact.........Thats almost as ignorant as saying MMA fighters are better then street fighters end of story.
Where the HELL do you get off thinking that I haven't fought a boxer but only assume what would happen! I didn't say I fought ROY jones jr. or Oscar Delahoya!

If you need to read my post again do so. Like I mentioned the 1st time most street fighters are a joke. For the most part I agree with you. If I went to a school and fought people I didn't know just to show how full of testoterone I was I would probably 100% agree with you. I simply pointed out that there are exceptions. And mostly discredited street fighters as scrubs.MOST NOT ALL.

In most cases a street fighter will be inferior but isn't it obvious not to say it will always go down like this but if some ones been serious about Muay Thai for the past 5 years he/she would have a pretty good chance against a scrub? Ofcourse he /she would win you would hope. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about someone like me. I don't go to a school I've only been serious for about 4 months but I assure you if I was put up against someone with 4 months under there belt, I think you may be surprised. I don't feel the need to tell you my fighting career but assure you I wouldn't be saying this unless like you it was something I experienced. I'm not gonna say I beat this guy and did this and that. I'll just say I have fought a large array of different people with different styles and the only time I've ever been beat up was by a guy who looked like sid vicous the wrestler. He was huge and I'm rather slim I still fought him I will honestly say most people my size or even bigger would want nothing to do with guy I fought and lost life goes on. I'm done talking about me I hope I clarified myself

THE DIFFERENCE
I will start by sayin the same thing I say In a lot of threads, anyone who dedicates there self to something deserves respect. But the DIFFERENCE is in the ring you can tap out have the towel thrown in or whatever. On the streets you wont be so fortunate! I seen a guy throw a gay ass kick and broke his foot that was the first thing that happened. In the ring the fights done your foots busted your pride maybe hurt but you still go home! Unfotunatly this wasn't in the ring and the guy just about had his life stomped out of him. Yes the streets are full of scrubs who think there tough...........But what about people like me? I am a roofer and bust my ass up there damn near every day I still lift weights jump rope run kick the bag and punch the bag, And still got time to take my Son to the park or whatever. How many of you have ever done a Roof? The faster you go the more roofs you do the more$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's damn hard work but I love MMA and still have time and enegry to work train and be a father. Are you saying that since I do not have time or money to go to a school I am not a reputable fighter? Since I don't have ant trophys that say I'm tough I'm not? If you put me in the ring with the top dog I would probaly get worked but put me in there with somone with the same amount of training time and you might be surprised.

Like many people before me has probably pointed out, it isn't necesseraly the art, but the fighter that determines how good he can fight.

A street fighter will probably have a tremendous advantage mentally, since he has a strong experience in facing an opponent under absolutely no rules, and is somewhat accustomed to the stress involved in such a fight.

That's why a fighter from a tough neighbourhood often will win, no matter what style he practise. That is also why I believe a fighter from a full-contact sport, such as MMA, Myai Thai etc will often have an advantage against a practitioner from a traditional martial art with light contact sparring.

I am also fed up with people judging people only by the style they practice, if you work correctly, and under stress, you can become one hell of a fighter no matter what style you practice (ok, capoeira excluded ), assuming that the techniques tought aren't totally lame. So traditional martial arts doesn't necesseraly mean that you can't become a good fighter.

But generally, I do think the best fighters out there still come from styles where you get accustomed to fighting as close to the street as possible (MMA, NHB-fighting etc).

Well... Here's my basic point. On a higher level and even amatuer level, a person trained in the fighting arts is better suited in a fight. If you're a ring fighter, most of your opponents are tougher than most street fighters. In fact, most inner city kids who have a knack for fighting become boxers. So essentially you have most of the tough kids from each neighborhood competing in a sport. I've had my share of scraps, but they don't compare to the guys I spar. I once sparred a Hispanic guy who won Golden Gloves. After getting spanked by him, he told me he had come from a meager and tough neighborhood where he got into fights all the time.
