Yes Ron defeated Rickson under the rules of Sambo.
(did rigan beat ron?)
Yes Rigan defeated Ron, I have no idea how quick it was. If that is important then lets remember Ron defeated Rickson in under 30 seconds. : )

There was to be a rematch between Rigan and Ron but that year Rigan was defeated before he got to face Ron in the semi-finals. Ron went on to win the World Championship.

Hey Duchman,
Myself & Mark Tripp fought over this a number of years ago.
He complained about Rickson saying he was undefeated (which he has never said when asked point blank), then said Rigan had never beat Ron which seemed hypocritical to me. Later Mark came back & changed it. Maybe he didn't know Rigan had beat his brother, who knows, however the bottom line is no one has won every competition they've been in. Marciano was defeated as an amateur as was Mosely and the list goes on. Rickson has a fantastic record. All I've ever heard him claim is that he never lost a Black Belt GJJ-BJJ match in competition, and that's true. This is an old topic that comes up every time someone wants to shoot at Rickson. Rickson's art is GJJ-BJJ and he's done well both in sport & vale tudo.
