i bought some new hunter vale tudo gloves... any experience with those?

I used a friend's pair in a pancration tournament. His pair is about 6 years old, and still in great shape. The padding can become hardened (flattened?) after a lot of use. I would tape down the velcro in a competition, though. I pulled out of a key lock that was half-way on, and I scratched up my opponent pretty badly when the velcro came loose.
