  • Strength/Skill/Spirit

A question on which you rate as more 'vital' in a fight, street(real) or match (sport).

Stength - Physical power & endurance.

Skill - The ability to use technique.

Spirit - The wont give up/aggression factor.

    For me.

    Match Fight - Skill/Strength/Spirit

    Street fight - Spirit/Strength/Skill

I know it's a bit general, but go with it.

Well first of all putting endurance and physical power in one category is somewhat problematic. For example, all I do nowadays is lift weights. While I am pretty strong, I have no cardio endurance whatsoever.

For streetfights I think physical power and agresiveness is more important than skill and endurance. Basically in a real fight you are going to be using BASIC moves such as punches, elbows, tackles, guillotines, the most complex thing someone would do is probably a triangle. The fight isn't going to be three 5 minutes rounds, so endurance isn't necessary.

But in a match, skill and endurance will be much more important than stregth and aggression. Skill is necessary because your opponent obviously has training and isn't some Joe Average moron throwing haymakers at you. Aggression could also be a handicap in a match because it may cause a fighter to expose himself to a skilled opponent.

I thing spirit is always more important. Conditioning and skills are equaly important so I would say it is a tie between the two

But you still need some skill/strength otherwise you won't be able to use your spirit. A snail will never beat a hippo in a fight, no matter how much spirit it has.

I would throw the "spirit" in his eyes in a real fight

No one asked which of the three will work on their own. It was asked which is most important. Of course you need a degree of each.

Which one do you think is most important?

Man, now we can really get down to business.

Oh, and welcome aboard new guy. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Spirit: Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog.

You have got to hand it to him,
                          it's a fair point !

Unless of course the snail has secret chi power and energy.

I don't think its a fair point at all. It misses the point. But who cares?
