  • just to start some crap...

Slow day at work, so here we go...

When the Florida election officials gave the number that Bush was still ahead by 1700+ votes last night at 6:00 with 53 out of 67 counties reporting, the number was about 3 times higher than the number the media was reporting when they were up to 53 counties, therefore the final number will most likely be much higher than what the liberal media is reporting now. A recount in just about every state that was close would result in numbers different than the original count (going either way), similar to the differences we are seeing in Florida, will Al Gore force the Republicans to spend weeks in the process of going to every county in every close state for a recount?

    Palm Beach County:
Ballot was chosen by a Democrat election official.

Officials and voters had the opportunity to view the ballot
prior to voting and had no objections.

It is the VOTER's responsibility to view the ballot before voting and get a clear understanding of how it is set up.

Because some people in this country don't take their right to vote as serious as others and don't make sure they clearly understand the ballot prior to voting, it does not justify them getting a second try.

Do we really want the outcome of this election to be completely decided by a group of people that were either to stupid to know how to vote, or took their right to vote for granted by not taking the time to understand the ballot prior to voting?

    How BUSH got screwed:
The liberal media called Florida for Gore prior to all the voting booths closing in the state of Florida and in over 1/2 the other states, this VERY likely discouraged Bush voters from going to the polls thinking that Gore had already won the election (another slick trick by the democrats and liberal media)

The popular vote as well as the electoral vote would most likely have gone to Bush (and still might) if the media kept their mouths shut

The Democrats continue to jeopardize and disgrace our nation by supporting Jesse Jackson and not shutting him up in Florida with his group of de-generates that obviously do nothing all day and therefore they have the time to spend their days running around whining about how they were too stupid to know how to vote.

Does this group of low class do-nothings really represent the American people?

If they do, Clinton has the country in worse shape than we thought.

    Speculations:

How many votes from illegal aliens in Florida were counted as votes for Gore?

What part did the Democrats play in dropping the lead Bush had by some many votes in the recount?

If they are this bold in their attempt to force the election, what else did they pull in other states that we are not aware of yet?

food for thought...If we are to have a re-election in Palm Beach County, why not the entire state of Florida? If we are going to revote in Florida, why not revote in every other close state (i.e. Wisconsin, New Mexico, Iowa, etc.)?

    Still laughing about Skeets father...

    Sure, I'll bite.

If Bush is so confident in his "victory", why is he so afraid of a re-vote in Palm Beach County?

Sure looks like cowardice to me.

I agree that if there is a re-vote, it should only be in that one county. This has gone on long enough.

"Liberal media"? Sure. Gore won the popular vote, so obviously he must be doing something right.

      Ronin,

Seriously put yourself in Bush's position. You have "won" the popular vote in Florida (minus the ballots that were thrown out, etc...), why would you want a revote? thats just from a practical standpoint.

Another way to view it would be to ask why just Palm Beach County? Because they used the butterfly ballot? Did you know that the head of the Gore campaign uses it in his own district, in Chicago??? If it is so illegal, and confusing, why does he use it? If they are to revote in Palm Beach County, they need to revote in the entire state. If they are to revote the whole state of Florida, they need to revote the entire country....I think we would both agree that that should not happen (revote in the whole country).

NDIrish, If it makes you feel any better I am a staunch democrat and I do not support Jesse Jackson. In fact, I think that he is a fool. He talks loudly and says the same silly things over and over, and for some reason a lot of people are taken by him. It's not the responsibility of anyone to "shut him up". Rather, intelligent people should just ignore him and acknowledge that a not-so-bright reverend has no place in a political leadership or public office.

          Mr. Miyagi,

I agree that it's not necessarily the Democrats responsibility to shut up Jackson, but more in their best interest. I think that he can de-legitimize the party's arguments. When you have such an extremist, people sitting on the fence tend to discredit the overall issue based on his rhetoric. I think repub's had the same problem with Buchanan...

            uh, huh huh huh

"liberal media" - what a joke. only conspiracy-addled militia members believe that claptrap. The truth is quite the opposite. Corporate-biased (read, rightwing-biased) media is much more accurate.

that ballot is illegal in FL. I don't know about Chicago. Where not talking about Chicago, we're talking about FL.
Also not just because it is butterfly but because it is out of the order required by law (based on the Governor's Race Result)

but then again, the rule of law is only important to two-party fags when it supports their corporate cause.

            Down with the ZOG!!!

I'm not going to bite, because either this is a troll or you are peanut-brained.

However, let me point out a couple of things to you:

                    a) Bush is going to be our next president, period. 347 votes or whatever, the overseas ballots will add to that. It will not be worth it for Gore to open a constitutional pandora's box and demand a re-vote, unless one of those pressing a lawsuit proves there was some highly unsavory activity going on down there

                    b) When you say things like "the liberal media" you expose yourself as a pathetic McCarthyite relic chasing imaginary monsters while trying to scare the morons of this country into voting for your otherwise repugnant candidate.

Do a word search on your "conservative" infantile rhetoric and replace the word "liberal" with "communist" and voila: it's the 1950s all over again. If I had a dime for every time some GOP-loving windbag farted that phrase out and expected me to check at least 100 IQ points at the door and swallow it, I could buy you, sell you, buy you back again and then auction you off on Ebay to the lowest bidder--not only because I'd want you to realize that you couldn't even turn a profit but also to show you that you're completely expendable.

Trotting out that golden oldie serves only to provide some of us here with maudlin entertainment, as we laugh at you considering what an obvious dupe you are. "Liberal media"? Yeah, Rupert Murdoch, Jack Walsh: what a bunch of tree huggers. Chris Matthews: what a Clinton apologist! Fox News Channel: no, that's not the GOP network!

                    c) Your fictional group of "low-class do-nothings" is in Palm Beach County, jackass. Perhaps you haven't had time to leave your shack in Montana and see the world, but Palm Beach County is an affluent community dominated by Jewish senior citizens. If you have time to auction off your Reagan memorabilia and buy a plane ticket, perhaps you should fly down to Florida (say hi to Joe!) and when you get to PBC you can tour the crackhouses with your other Bushites and talk about that "vision thing."

                    d) Yes, Jesse's an ass. However, if you think Jesse = Dems than I can't help you. Jesse = Jesse. Always looking out for #1.

                    e) FYI, I'm IN Chicago and we had the butterfly ballot. The presidential candidates were all on the left and the hole punches went in order, not at all like the Palm Beach County ballot. Get your facts straight when you talk Chicago. We vote early, often and from the grave on occasion, but we know how to make a f***ing ballot.

                    f) Your Democrat conspiracy theories are laughable. Everybody knows that Dems are too inept to pull off conspiracies. The President of the United States can't even get serviced by some chubby intern and keep it a secret, but somehow Dems have managed to disrupt Florida?

Some of us are pretty damn tired of partisan, unblinking brainwashed foot soldiers spewing the same transpartent horse sh*t year after year when everybody knows what the real goals are.

You offer no solutions, only blame and child-like demonizing. You have no ideas, except the ones which you'll always deny while trying to convince us that you're "compassionate." Save us the Republican Starter Kit bollocks and go do something useful.

To the contrary Tony, you bit hook, line, and sinker....good going.

FYI, read my previous post...and I quote <<"btw, the liberal media comment was more of a sarcastic remark than anything....">>

Read, my friend, and you wouldn't have gotten your feathers in such a ruffle.

I gotta say, I just reread your post...I really touched a nerve, huh? wow. Funny stuff...

Now, here is a realistic view of what I see/think (my first post was more sarcastic, as the title said, "just to start some crap"):

Gore won the popular vote overall...too bad, electoral college counts. If there were no electoral college, candidates would spend 100% of their time in cities like Chicago, NY, LA, SF, MIA, etc...the rest of the country would never see them.

                      Probably no conspiracy anywhere...

A revote would be a disaster (as if the current situation isn't already).

Lawsuits would be taking it too far.

Do the hand recount, and if it shows Bush is the winner, drop it at that (after the absentee ballots, of course). If Gore should come out on top, then so be it.

Whatever he outcome, the president will have a hell of a time getting anything done, with the house and senate so evenly split. This seems to have really split the country...it's a shame.

Oh come on, I was having a good time with that one.

Nothing on this board is going to ruffle me, except when people start saying that BJJ is a legitimate martial art...

I should also say, that whichever candidate gets in office, I think all they need to do is leave the economy to Greenspan, and we will be just fine. It's the other deomcratic ideals (pro-abortion, etc) that make me vote republican.

I actually think Gore would be a good pres, but I think Bush would be just as good, and espouse my values more accurately...

Amazing how this thing is coming down to a few hundred votes (if the AP results are accurate)...I am absolutely astonished at how close this election has been...
