I am a Christian and even I must say...that stuff is sad...

I think It all depends on the individuals goals ...If youre taking martial arts just to learn how to kick someones ass ...then yeah that is wrong..
I do it for fitness, self defence and fun!...thats it!
Theres no law in the Bible saying you cant protect yourself! Yes martial arts can be violent...but thats not the purpose.. Martial arts were made for people to defend themselves...If someone attacked me with a knife...what should I just let him stab me!? I fully agree with the "turn the other cheek" thing WHEN ITS POSSIBLE to do so but when my life and well-being or more importantly someone elses is in danger...I WILL USE MY SKILLS AND FIGHT....

Some Christian groups try so hard to get others to believe ..how is something like THIS going to help...

        Ryu:

I have a serious question for you.

Will you choose the Kodokan, or will you choose JESUS CHRIST?

        The choice is yours, Ryu.

That was crazy. Almost psychotic! Keep in mind the views of that person doesn't reflect religous people as a whole.

They're obviously not that educated on what they preach.

They are trying to scare people away from martial art's by using the "you'll go to hell" trick.

(had to correct a few typo's)

I know at least two preachers who hold black belts in TKD and this is the first time I have ever heard about Martial arts being Anti Christ.

I have a real problem with Christians who are against martial arts, mainly because they are ignorant not only regarding MAs, but also about their religion and the bible.
They base their reasons against the MAs simply on an emotional basis. The same as how the KKK considers black people evil, stupid etc just because they are black.

Anyway, there is a passage from the bible where Jesus tells his disciples to sell their clothes to buy a sword as they will need it in the days of the "transgressors".
Also, most modern christians misinterpret the "turn the other cheek" line. A slap to the cheek was considered an insult to the jews(can any jewish person around here clarify this?) and NOT a full assault. It's not the same as someone rushing up to you throwing punches.

Martial Artist, I at one point did try to email them, and they sent the "I'll go to hell" stuff. I told them I am a Orthodox Christian, which was the first and ONLY real church of Christ, and to stop making real Christians look bad. This pissed them off hehehe!
(I was only trying to get under their skin, so I do not believe the orthodox church is any better then the other Christians out there, so no offense to anyone )

Ronin, hmmm well if I go to the kodokan, there's bound to be some pretty J-girls there So...
Haha, I remember you saying that you were perhaps a budding Christian. PLEASE do not think the people on that web site represent the Christian religion...there's a lot of muck you have to walk through to get to the real stuff.

This kind of thing has always frusterated the hell out of me, and I forgot who mentioned it, but YES a lot of these kind of people are simple biggots. They use religion as a way of holding their american, white culture (yep it's that bad) above the "evil pagans" that are the rest of the world.
The sad (and funny) thing is that Christianity has nothing to do with America, or European culture at all if you go back to its original sources.
Martial Artist, tell us what they say, but be careful they don't seep into your head. They can be almost cult-like.

                      Ryu:

Don't worry. Even if I do "go Christian" I will still be a complete bastard at heart. Sex, violence, and alcohol will still be my favorite hobbies. No worries.

Pretty scarry that people like this are running around. I particularly like the way they classify every other religion other than Christianity as an occult(toasism, budism etc...)This reminds me of a religious group that was telling everyone that johnson and johnson co. was actually controlled by the church of satan because they have a crescent moon symble on some of thier products. And that Snapple ice tea company was controlled by the KKK, because of the "K" on the lable(which actually shows that the product is a Kosher product).
