Ummmm, recommending "home study martial arts" websites to 14 year old kids is really not a good idea. There should be a caption on the site--don't try this at home kids.

Oh those demos against totally unresisting opponents look really good.

But the site was really informative. Traditional Japanese weapons schools just love when some white guy studies with them and then decides to make his own style.

Is it the white guy the one explaining the clips? because I'm a bit worried about his accent.

            Me

            Hey,

Yeah, I am 14 and I want to learn how to use the kamas. I know how to handle and control myself. I am buying a piar of wooden ones to start out with. Then I'm buying a pair of Demo Kamas, and then the Mike Chat Kamas by Macho, but those will only be for competition. I'm buying some videos to learn forms and the proper usage and teckniques. I'm more mature than you think.

              RobertG,

I am going to practice at the Dojang as well as at home, like most other true Martial Artists. If I didn't study at home, but just at the Dojang, then I would be far behind from the others that do both. Sorry if you have a problem with my age. It's not my fault is it?

Loor my comments were primarily directed at the website. I'm not a big believer in learning martial arts over the web. I don't think it can be done. Of course you should practice at home. Without a doubt. But if you're going to learn weapons you need a real life instructor to teach you before you go home to play with a bladed weapon. So in otherwords, I hope you don't use that website as your instructor.

Loor: find a school that does Okinawa Kobujitsu they will teach you Bo(staff) kama, Tonfa, nunchaku, sai and a few other weapons

The forum on www.fightingarts.com is more into traditional arts
and more suited for these topics than a MMA BJJ forum
