yeah that's right, 100 bucks. I pay for 2 day air because I am impatient, but regular shipping for UPS ground is like 6 bucks or something.

The pictures is of the slightly older model of gi, the new ones have some differences, it's still just as good though. although It says its a "kimono" which might mean it doesn't come with pants. I'd make sure it has pants first.

      Two questions:

      1. Are there any places that size the Gi to fit your measurements before they send it out to you? If so are those places dramatically more expensive. I'm pretty certain that an off the shelf Gi wouldn't fit me right due to my rather unfortunate (for the moment) dimensions of 5'9 and 260 lbs.

      2. Is there a significant difference between a judo gi and a bjj gi? I just started bjj and my instructor said that he sells judo gis but that bringing an outside gi in is acceptable.

Machado will work with you I believe, you can get seperate sized pants and jackets also.

BJJ gi's are typically alot thicker, have smaller sleeve openings, are a heavier weave, and stitched alot stronger. BJJ tend to fit a big more small.

RETURN OF THE GI POST !!

So I have narrowed my next gi to the following models:

                Atama Single Unbleached $54
                Machado Single Unbleached $75
                Machado White Hybrid $89

I must admit that the Atama is a very attractive price for a training gi.....

hah, I have both of those.

I can't reccomend either, they are both A+ to me. The difference is just that the single is plenty pliable and light, whereas the hybrid is a stiffer, more thick model. I trade them off every other day though, I like them both tremendously.

I've had an HCK, Gamness, Ouano and Atama.

I'd rank them in order of satisfaction:

                      Atama
                      HCK
                      Ouano
                      Gamness (shrank way too much)

next Gi I get will either be a Machado, another Atama or an HCK.......

You really like Atama better than HCK? Why is that Sweeps ?

I just bought an Ouano Gold Weave. It's my favorite gi. I also have an hck single and rednose. In addition to this, John is a great guy.

I have had good luck with Atama gi's. I have had my double knit for 7 months, and the collar is still hard for anyone to get a good grip on.

I, too, am looking for a good bjj gi. I am just beginning bjj and don't want a flashy gi, although I think they are pretty neat. I'll wait until I am at least a blue belt (a year or two) so I can properly wear a kick-butt blue gi. As for now would one of the cheap Howard's be fine or would it be too light? The place I am training right now is very comfortable temperaturewise. Oh I am a pretty muscular 6'1 225 if it matters for sizing or fit too. Thanks a lot. Any thoughts or comments on the relatively inexpensive Adidas gi's?
