This morning I have an unusually sore throat from being choked last night. Last week my back hurt and the week before it was my neck. Are these aches and pains normal for BJJ?

I would say yes...Not that I am an expert but in my grappling training which has a decent amount of basic BJJ I had had all of those pains and aches..In all honesty it is usually the result of being too stuborn, I.E. not tapping right away when some one has a choke sinched, wainting to long trying to find an escape from an arm bar..and so on.

Those pains are pretty basic stuff. If you just start for the first 6 months are so you are gonna be sore all over. Don't feel bad though about a month ago I dislocated my shoulder and last night I fractured my ankle.........it could be worse.
Go get you some glucosamine and chondroiton that helps a good bit with soreness. You can get that at you local GNC store.

I feel like 100 even at 27.
If you have soreness at the joints then you better back off.
Soreness in the between joints in the muscles shouldn't be too bad.
Instead of going full bore your first few months you really should ease into it.
Once you get past 25 you're ability to heal fast goes downhill quickly.
