The "power grappler" spends a lot of time to make his body stronger (working with weights and so on). This is his philosophy.
The most fighters are more interested in techniques. That is their philosophy. I like to watch fights where the fighting "ideas" are completely different.

Being mountained by a guy who is 100 pounds heavier than you is for sure not very funny. His weight alone will pump the air out of your body. Though it isn't unfair. He is just a little bit bigger - by nature.

So you are saying that you can't have a person that is dedicated to the weights and dedicated to the technique?

I hate to tell you but I personally spend about about 6-8hrs. a week in the gym working out and spend about 10hrs. on the mat doing BJJ. I have plenty of power to roll with and plenty of technique. I spend alot of time doing this because I know a person with extreme power and extreme technique is the toughest guy to beat.

ok that sound great. i mean i hate power grapplers that dont use techinique at all or use a little bit.

but power grapplers with the same amount of technique, thats just awesome. i´m not skinny i´m about 170 and i used to go to the gym. but i try not to use my force on bjj, cause i want more technique i´m just practicing. but when the time of a real fight or a tournament comes, i conbine it and that just when i saw my improvements. its kinda of great

Well, I would say it is good for you. If they had good techniques it would be hard for you to win
I once saw the fight Don Frye vs. Tank Abbott. This was yery lousy. Abbott had some strong punches at the beginning and it looked like he could knockout but then he fall about his own feet (!) and on the ground after ten seconds he came in a side choke and tapped out. No techniques here by Abbott and funless to watch.
Maybe he was in a bad shape ...

tank was a huge fighter, very hard to beat, but when i saw also him fight with pedro rizzo, he was so agressive at the begging and then he just got tired. thats the truth of non-technique fighters, you just have to wait....
