  • pride vs ufc!!(entertainment wise)

ive seen a couple of ufc dvds, and they were kinda boring. alot of the fights not much happen they just kinda lie there on top of each other and every now and again theres a quick burst of action. however in pride the fights seem much more exciting as the fighters have a bit more individuality and flair. in pride more technically sound and crowd pleasing moves get pulled off( in my opinion) like that dutch guy who does loadsa flying knees and sakuraba whos just mad!! i suppose the dvds of ufc that ive seen were quite old. do alot of pride fighters also enter ufc?

i hate it in ufc when two fighters kinda jus scrap and throw the wildest messiest punches that would make a boxer wince, and when they grapple for freakin ages with no reversals happening or anything. it ends up looking like a porno in slow motion.

Not for the most part no. The fighters in Pride much rather Pride to UFC.

For the most part, I see that the fact that UFC has a cage instead of a ring is degrading to the sport.. What happens is guys focus on taking the guy down, drive him into the fence and beat the hell out of. It's very repetitive. Which results in very few submission artists of enough skill because fighting from their back will end up with their back against the fence with knees in your face.

In Pride with the Hypothetically Unlimited Mat, guys who want to pound a guy into a corner will be beaten like they just stole something. Something valuable.

REAL Ground and Pound masters are found in Pride, IMO. They don't need a fence to stop a guy from getting away. I mean, look at Fedor, now that's a Ground and Pound technician. If he had a fence to help him, he'd be unstoppable.. But I think he stays in Pride because the competition is better, and UFC tries to glorify each fight and pretend that each guy hates the other guy. But Fedor is a very quiet guy.. love his interviews: "Do you have any special strategies to employ on him?" "Well, I'm going to go out there, and I'm going to try and win.." lol

        Drama

Drama probably distinguishes the two. Pride has less, plus its fun to see a stadium pakced with 50,000 Japanese fight fans who are dead silent until one of the fighters lands a solid kick, punch or takedown or escapes a submission attempt.

Pride has better fighters and is more enjoyable. Nuff said.

WHat about K-1? What is that like? Pride looks so cool. UFC is soooooo boring.

Wow its so cool to see a fatass like Tank Abot lay on top of another man and crush him to death up against the fence and then bitch slap him once every 2 minutes. BORING!!!

I think the ring should be really really big so its practically impossible to get them up against the edge to be cheap.

                UFC

Early UFC rocks, who can forget the sumo vs karate fight. Or you can call it the 600+ lbs vs 200 lbs.
Back then there were less rules and not so much grappling/submissions.

Great point...UFC limits ground fighters..the also no longer allow you to wear a Gi..which a lot of traditional ground fighters don't like. The was a quote in a magazine that I actually read over at Mr. Heel Hook's house by Renze Gracie who said..."Why would I fight in a forum which limits my ability to win?" Which I think is the way most people feel about UFC.

Without a doubt, that is why my boy Chuck is over in PRIDE as kicking now. To prove he is not just a UFC sally.

Quite the contrary..A few fighters like Rico float back and forth...but for the most part UFC fighters, especially UFC fighters from the old good UFC...(i.e. Gary Goodridge, Don Frye, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, and many more) Have come over to PRIDE to fight instead.

All and all I was a big fan of UFC when it first came out, it was new it was fresh it was exciting...then the changed the rules, and it just became repetion.

PRIDE is exciting...I watched the last event with a group of roughly seven guys over Mr. Heel Hook's house so he can vouch for it. We were interested, paying close attention the whole time...With UFC, save for the Chuck Liddel vs Randy Couture fight, there is not much that has been able to hold my intrest in some time.

                  PRIDE.. UFC...

The Problem I see with Pride is that it has way to much contraversy. Take a look at Yoshida. Nearely all of his fights are worked, and there are rumors that the Takada vs. Mirko Filopolic fight was a work.
