You should do any art for atleast 3 months to get a basic understanding of it. I'd give it atleast that long before you just drop out.

the only thing i don't like about HKD is that some of it isn't practical. It works for cops because the aim is controlling an opponent without hurting them. Cops can gang up on someone.... and no one is going to fight a cop with a 9mm. But the average Joe doesn't pack heat, and if the attacker just swings like crazy at you, hapkido isn't much help.
