  • What belt rank are you?

    I'm curious what type of martial artists we have here on the forum and what ranks.

    I train with Jiu Jitsu black belt Rey Diogo, the Carlson Gracie team in Los Angeles.

    I've trained Kung Fu, boxing, a little Judo and Muay Thai. I'm only training in BJJ and am a purple belt.

              Since I don't wear a belt I'm afraid I can't answer your question.

              When it comes to fighting I suppose I am a black belt in my way of fighting. To be a black belt is easy, you just have to be me and fight like me. I'm afraid I no longer agree with the idea of one person trying to fight in the exact same style as another.

                good answer, I have belts, but don't think they mean a whole hell of a lot.

                  I guess you could say that:

                  I'm a part time white belt under Kukuk BJJ (but he doesn't give out belts or ranks of any kind).

                  I am a part time white belt in Kodokan Judo

                  I am a brown belt in Kantan Kyo Jujutsu currently training for black.

                  The only time I wear a belt is to keep the gi closed. And the only time I wear a gi is in Judo.

                  But I always wear my Dogs of War Rash Guard baby!!!!

                      Brown = Judo
                      BJJ = no belt

                      Belts don't mean a whole lot. You can get a belt just by going to a dojo for many years and be shitty as hell and get one. Like some old farts that i know. Or you can go to a MA store and buy one. Like the famous Miyagi said "Black belt from JC Penny 7.99" lol...payce y'all

                          hell yes. They come to you acting like they know crap. Which they probably do, but cannot execute in a tournament atmosphere. Or even while were sparring I got a black belt getting thrown, losing his balance and submitting way to easily. Itz just so pathetic. I just wanna take their belt, and biatch slap them wit my brown.lol

                            yup, I was winning tournaments in the black belt division as a green belt, that and I could beat just about every bb in my class at the time, that's when I started realizing that the belt didn't mean a whole hell of a lot. Dedication mostly.

                              I hear ya fullcircle... I did the same at my gym.

                              The only belts I wear are for keeping my pants up. I know I’ve said that I would like a Black Belt in BJJ, but that seems unlikely now... Now, I don’t think it really matters to me. I don’t learn martial arts for belts. Rather, I take what works for me and move on. I train in my Under Armor and Hunter Vale Tudo shorts with NHB gloves.
