.......ok..this turned out longer then i thought

ok.....i think allot of people forget what it was like to be a teenager.....

Im not sure of Lizards exact situation.....sounds to me like he has a minor attitude problem...but besides that its tipical teenage behaviour.

there's nothing wrong with trying "moves" out on people....if the person doesn't mind that is....

Me and my friends have had many wrestling matches, body-hits only boxing matches/competitions plenty of times...sometimes when we have been drinking. (no one gets hurt, and sometimes its really funny. Two untrained guys going at it....)

before i started H2H MA's i had a quick two class intro to JJ..i couldn't wait to try these moves off on my friends "hey look what i learned"

Now the problem comes when you try it with people you just met, or dont know. Now i know lizard aint the brightest kid, but i dout hes that stupid.

I dont think there's anything wrong with drinking, or smoking weed (though i dont smoke, and never have), the problem comes with your dicisions.......are you going to drink till you puke, smoke till you puke...drink and smoke till you puke? Are you going to do this on a regular basis.....it all has to do with how you handle it....a couple beers with your friends takes the edge off, and helps to create conversation

For me, If im planning on getting seriously ripped, sloshed, hammerd whatever you want to call it, i make sure its with people who i trust, where there wont be random people showing up to cause trouble. Or in an area that i am very familiar with.

Iv been to parties where iv chose not to drink...iv had a good time, sometimes i feel like drinking. There isn't a darn thing wrong with that.

Everything in the end comes down to choice, and how you handle yourself. Your teenage years are the time when you learn how much you can handle. Go out, get drunk, just be smart about it.

"bitch fights" (two untrained guys trying to wrestle with a few strikes in if they can manage..mostly ending in an armbar or headlock/semi-choke) are great. I wish i could see my 6'3 180 lbs comunist, philosophy student fight six guys in a row and lose each match every weekend. "WHO's NEXT!!"

    anyone im done talking.....err writing...

I disagree, I must be a saint compared to you then.

I've never done drugs, never drank alcohol until I was in my early 30's, had no desire to,besides allergic to alcohol. Now if I drink,I'll drink a cooler or two (beer is disgusting) every 6 months.

I always have a good time at parties without drinking or doing weed, even as a teenager.

There is something wrong with doing weed and having to get drunk, both are unhealthy and stupid to do. There is no need to get drunk especially if you are going to start fights.

I show off some techniques to my friends by trying to use some on them, but I don't go picking fights as Lizard stated he does and thinks is fun.

If a person can't handle the alcohol he needs to simply stop drinking and quit the weed.

Weed causes lose of brain cells doesn't a person lose enough of them everyday especially if he is into some real harsh martial arts, so why make it worse?

A true martial artist cares about his health and body and trains to better him/herself both inside and outside of the dojo.

By doing drugs and drinking alcohol you are defeating the whole purpose of getting into shape, feeling stronger, more aware and a better martial artist over all.

If you don't care about your health, why do martial arts?

everyone wants to lend advice and that's cool but as has been previously stated lizard has to experience them by himself. i just wanted to pass on this story from when i was 19 or 20 and reckless.
i used to be the 'party all the time and to hell with most everything else' guy except for martial arts. i would not be the guy to do anything to anyone when i drank i was always the happy drunk. i would get invited through friends of friends to different parties and would attend with my favorite beer mug ready to get my buzz. because i was into the martial arts so heavy (5 to 6 days a week for about 4 and a half hours a day averaged) and my friends knew it i was the innocent in a plan to take care of a problem child that had been 'showing off' at one of those friends of friends of friends houses. i didn't know the place we were going but the guys told me that lots of girls and booze would be there and it would be wild so i was game. the party had been going on for a while so there were already drunk people there. no sooner than we get out of the car (i was in the back seat so my friends were already out) this guy walks up and slaps two of my friends in the head. not hard strikes but really uncalled for anyway. i looked at my friends, one of which had fallen to the ground ( he was already drunk before we left his house so it wasn't much to knock him down) i told the guy to knock his sh*...stuff off and he moved toward me. i kicked him in the groin and hit him in the face, my friends all took turns beating the crap out of him. we left the party without entering the house and that pissed me off. my friends however thought it was the funniest thing and told me what they had wanted me to do but couldn't ask me to do it. then i was really pissed. i later found out that that guy didn't want to party anymore and didn't even want to know who did it to him. i am not by any means proud of what i did but it is one of my own experiences that keep me from acting up while drinking even if i get pissed.
perhaps your buddies that you show off on know some people that can handle a drunk the same way.

be careful because if you get knocked out anything can happen especially if they think you will retaliate later.

          meh, to each his own.

But dont confuse facts with you opinion. Getting "drunk" is unhealthy...but i would be suprised if you could find evidence of "ocasional" drinking being bad for your health.

heh what do they say, a glass of wine a day will help you live longer.

          Everything in moderation i say.

But remember, your body has to continue to working to keep strong and healthy....including your organs.

I have to say kengar and kingston know what theyre talking about.

You don't need to drink to be happy but it makes things more interesting. Kill more brain cells? Great, I've always believed stupid people are happier.

Huey that is quite a disturbing story. I'll keep that in mind.

At 15 you shouldn't be drinking alcohol or doing weed ? You still have time to party. Besides you don't need alcohol or weed to be able to party and have a good time.
Perhaps I would of been a little more clear. I don't smoke weed, and I don't drink, although I have tried it. Last time i actually got drunk was probably 1 and half years ago, same with weed. I also think there is a difference between being just 'dumb' and being lazy, so that is my problem then, I am lazy when it comes to school work. I also got 'peer pressure' to go through sometimes when I am with my friends, or if I am with other different people.

With the kind of attitude you display, you won't stick with an MA for very long. A year from now you'll be out of highschool, sitting in a dorm somewhere playing "Halo 3", drinking beer and telling people that you're gonna "start working out again soon" as you pat your gut.

So don't worry about, doesn't seem like you'll stick with it long enough to ever become dangerous. Watch out for those involuntary manslaughter charges when you choke out a drunk guy and he suffocates on his own vomit.

Quit ****ing around or shut up.

If that is my destiny then so be it. Halo 3 will be so cool I probably wouldn't even mind all the other stuff you mentioned. Your most likely right that I wont stick with MA long because I don't have much willpower and I'm not getting into any real fights anymore (being tall but at the same time polite and non-violent is an excellent self defense combo). And I don't choke people, it's not my style.

I may not be perfect but I try to be honest.

Not drinking and staying away from sex is not a religious issue.

The truth is that people who dont let things controle them like drugs or sex have more controle over their lives and are not as prone to making bad mistakes as others.

I think to be a good martial artist you should stay away from that stuff.

I am not saying an occassional drink is wrong. There isnt anything wrong with that but you are only 17 and to young to drink.
And I think sex is best kept with one women and not a ton of women or men or whatever people are into and sex is best done with love. But that is just my opinion. Its hard to kick someones ass when you have herpes stinging your balls.

There isnt anything wrong with practicing moves with friends or saying "Hey look what I learned!" if they are willing to watch or let you practice. But picking random fights is wrong.

I myself always feel a bit punchy and enthusiastic about fighting but I have to learn to controle my behavior when I am around people I dont know.

I just really find it sad that you made the statement that you think Drinking is more fun then martial arts and you would rather quit Martial arts and drink.

I hope this isnt the direction our youth are going today.

If you have to think about whether laughing with friends or doing martial arts is more important then you aren't a true martial artist.

Laws are for losers!!!!!!!!! Laws exist for a reason.

drinking while under age, whatever you're not my kid. beating up people or showing off (as you like to think of it) while drinking, not cool and definately immature i don't have to deal with it so, whatever. thinking that drinking is the way for you to show you're an outlaw of sorts, whatever. but to think that laws are for losers? now you are truly proving that on top of being a bully you are younger up stairs than your age suggests. laws are rules and in any ma there are a certain amount of those. so whoever teaches you is, by your own account, a loser. that shows a lot of discipline and dedication to your art right there.

the drinking age limit was set up for individuals like you, people that can't seem to handle it because they are just too young. sure i did more than my fair share but as i wrote i was always the happy drunk that didn't hurt anyone. even though i was immature, i was not a bully.

oh yeah lizard that's real disciplined. laws are for losers?

what will be the true definition of a loser is when you get picked up, arrested, arraigned, and sentenced for beating the hell out of people for no reason. when you get into a cell on a stint of 2-5 for aggravated assault and meet your new husband bubba, whose first impression of you is summed up with the first words he speaks to you "i'm on top." then you will not have a chance to take a drink and you will finally have time to think clearly.

if you are 17 then it sound like what I used to be like... it nice to have control over your body and be able to show off... and when your young its easy to gain an ego.

You may be at a point where you know your actions are not 'right' and so are starting to mature. basically self control is the order of the day.

if you don't try to control it then you will get beat up. But then the fact you have recognised it and are asking about it shows that your going to be a well balanced adult (ish )

Thanks nit. You know I've been thinking:

One of my friends was sick
One broke a plant pot and urinated on the drive
One kicked down a fence and actualy challenged me to a proper fight
All I really did was kick one guy a few times (not even full power or anything) and other people agree that he deserved it

I also got the one who broke the plant pot to stay in another room and calm down while it was being cleared up, I helped to clear it up. I even spent some time sitting down and telling the people around me to chill out.

Any comment that starts with "pah" is an immature gesture of defiance.

Come on man, if a "true martial artist" prefers MA to friends then he will end up very lonely and sad.

Laws exist for a reason? pah only cos people are stupid enough to follow them. Contorl of the weak.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to listen to linkin park and think about hot babes...
