  • Martial Arts Robot

long time no post... I stopped training, a few months ago, cos of a concussion that i had, it was really really bad... though i am tempted to train again.

anyways, back to topic. those robots can do martial arts. How sweet it'd be if two of the robots fights one other....

"It can perform back flips and karate moves thanks to 138 pressure sensors, 30 different onboard motors and 14 computer processors."

Finally, someone who would hold pads for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder if you can buy them or do they come in a kit.

Oh and sparring would be so cool. So much for shin conditioning for the Thai kicks.

The makers studied humans in detail, and the robot moves EXACTLY like them.

Unfortunately, the scientists went to an ordinary Karate class for their inspiration. Therefore the robot moves more like a robot than a, well, than a robot.

Ya that's definitely true since if the scientists had gone to an actual contact martial arts place like a MuayThai school then perhaps we could practice sparring with them instead of karate ballet.

Had the scientists gone to MuayThai school the robots would be closer to actual fighters then just a simple robot.

Don't get me wrong it is still cool how a robot could do any type of martial arts.

Hitting metal with our shins would sure toughen up our shins.

Any robot would be great for holding focus mitts though as long as you can train the robot to hold the mitts in different directions so you can throw jabs, right cross, hooks, uppercuts etc. It would make a great partner but if a robot like that is actually to ever be sold I'm sure it will be expensive.

Sparring with a robot I suppose could be cool when you have no one else to sparr with but nothing beats the real thing of course.

Given the techniques I just saw it perform, I think it qualifies to instruct a McDojo Karate School !

You could allways use it on weekends to teach folks how to dance the "robot" brake dance from 84'. Does the robot come with a built in 'ghetto blaster' tape deck?
