So I just got done trying out the demo for PS3 and all I can say is WHOA. not only are the graphics very realistic and detailed, from the people in the crowd to sweat on fighters backs to Chuck Liddell's painted toenails, but the fighting techniques and strategy of the game are really about as close to real fighting as I've seen any video game get. The stand-up has what you'd expect with punches, kicks, elbows, knees, defense and counters, etc. But the ground game goes from clinches and takedowns and sprawling, to passing guard and mounting, submissions and chokes, etc. Granted you can simply pick up the control and kick/punch to your heart desire in the fight with out much practice, but there is so much to master with the ground game and transitions, as well as reversals....it's really very addicting. If for some reason you haven't seen the game, this youtube video give you a good indicator of the extent the maker went to make this really authentic for hardcore MMA fans. It's really damn fun and I'm going to be sure to get it when it comes out May 19, just have to make sure it doesn't turn me into couch potato.

in case anyone is interested (so far seems like only I am), I found out that the "create your fighter" function will be pretty cool - here is what I found on ufcundisputed.com:

The game will have a create-a-fighter mode, where you can opt to start his UFC career with a given set of skill points. You can also create a fighter and take him directly to online play, but you’ll only get 75 percent of available points with which to start. To create a fighter and improve him, you have to fight and collect more points to upgrade his skills.

The career mode is where the richness of the game experience kicks in, Producer Neven Dravinski said, as your upstart collects in-game “Cred” points to improve his skills while fighting his way into the big time. “You get e-mails from Joe Silva and Dana White, you can purchase equipment and you get camp invites to train, like from Team Penn or Sityodtong,” Dravinski said. “So it gives you that incentive to keep playing. Your initial created fighter will suck. You’re slower, and if you’re a level one kickboxer, you can’t do a Superman punch.”

Here is the info I found for create-a-fighter and career mode. Sounds like this will be alot of fun to play with...

-Personal Details: choose your name and nickname, hometown, fighting location and age (age has no impact on stamina/strength)

-Aesthetics: height and weight in proportion, skin tone, hair type, head and brow size, eyes and nose, cheeks and mouth, tattoos, fight clothing style (including brands as you unlock in career mode)

-Fighting Style: One Standing/Striking style (boxing, kickboxing or Muay Thai), One Ground style (wrestling, BJJ or Judo)

POINTS: You are given a limited amount of “skill points,” that can be spread out through many different fight styles to give your fighter more dimension. No player can be created with maximized ratings for every category. Using all your “skill points” on your fighters striking will detriment his ground game. You'll also get points to allocate to your strength, speed, and cardio performance.

TRAINERS: Choose from two boot-camp trainers. Mike offers you a five-point bonus to your standing game, whereas Antoine will improve your ground game by the same amount.

          PREPARATION:
Receive emails in your gym from Dana White and Joe Silva as they school you on appropriate fighter conduct. Silva will send you known fighters who you can take on, or you can opt for the random element and go into the match blind.

Once you select an opponent, you’re given a countdown to the bout in weeks. Prepare for fights in the way you see fit from choices of cardio, strength, or speed training. Points in each of the skills are gained in relation to the intensity of the training done. You’ll need to manage your stamina bar and pace your training or you’ll need rest weeks if you deplete your energy too fast.

          RESULTS
Winning will give you a breakdown of points from the match, including, where relevant, a performance bonus, fight award bonus, sponsorship bonus for wearing sponsor clothing, and your total cred reward. Cred is a combination of money and popularity.

As you win fights and your cred reward grows, you'll have the option to take on better brand sponsors and align yourself with various gyms.
