My name is Karin Jacobson and I am a student of Ajarn Chai Sirisute and of Khun Kru Greg Nelson at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. I also work as a jewelry designer. At the last seminar I attended, Ajarn Chai asked me if I could create a sterling silver medallion out of the Thai Boxing Association logo, and make it available for his students. I have done this, and have included information about it along with this letter.
When I sent Ajarn Chai the medallion, he called me and asked me for one more thing. Many of you may know my instructor, Khun Kru Nelson, and those who do may know that in May of 2002, he was diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgin’s lymphoma. After a long and difficult battle with the disease, he is now cancer-free, and we, his students, are extremely happy and relieved to have him back at the gym teaching and training as he continues to recover from the effects of the cancer and its treatment. Upon Ajarn Chai’s request, I have added $5 to the price of the medallion so that it can be donated to Khun Kru Nelson’s favorite charity, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in his name. St. Jude is dedicated to researching and treating catastrophic diseases in children, with a special focus on pediatric cancers.
If you or any of your students would be interested in having a Thai Boxing Association medallion, or if you need more information, feel free to contact me
