www.muaythai.com <--- with this site you may need to hit refresh, take a look atthe techniques taught in Muay Thai.

also this site ---> http://www.usmta.com/Krabi-Krabong-2.htm <---- this is the Thai art from which Muay Thai was taken.

Learning Muay Thai doesnt mean you become a kickboxer it means you are learning the sportive fighting form (empty hand technqiues) of Krabi-krabong. I say sportive because you compete full contact with minimul rules in a Muay Thai bout to test ones skills, there are no belt gradings as you'd find in Karate or KungFu but title belts you'd win in competition. Kickboxing is a form of fighting, competitive fighting that originated from karate practictioners who wanted something more to compete in rather than full contact Karate, so 30 years ago they invented Full Contact Kickboxing. Recently though Kickboxers have noticed how effective the Thai roundhouse is so they have taken that technique and added it to their own, Kickboxing is evolving and it seems the sport kickboxing is taking more techniques from Muay Thai as it grows, A lot of the techniques in Kickboxing are from Karate and some other arts.

A lot of people do not understand Muay Thai because they either dont practice it or have no interest in the actual art itself so just see what they believe to be Muay Thai, in actual fact there is a surprisingly high amount of kickboxing gyms which sell training under the guise of Muay Thai. It takes you to find a good authentic Muay Thai gym.

The techniques from muaythai.com are Muay Boran (Ancient Boxing) I am lucky enough to be a member of a gym (here and in Thailand) which teaches this style, but in reality all Muay Thai gyms should infact teach you Muay Boran as authentic Muay Thai is Muay Boran but with gloves and rounds included in the competitions, the stance is a little different because you dont have groin kicks or headbutts to worry about, we often revert back to this "old" stance for sake of remembering the way its done.

In Muay Thai (Boran) we are taught throws, grabs, breaks, clinching and trapping. We are taught all kinds of self defense techniques that are illegal in the ring, we train them lightly in sparring.

It will take you to find a good gym.

      hope the sites help

kuoshu is not sanda . The big difference between muay thai and sanda is what techniques are used in the clinch. Sanda favors throws, while muay thai favors knees and elbows. Go check out both places and see which one interest you more.
