Well I did carefully word my statement, and I still stand by it. Van Damme could beat your average professional fighter. There are many professional fighters out there that never make it big, they are you average professional fighters since there are much more of them then K1 fighters.

No doubt, Hoost or Bonjasky could easily take him. But there not your average professional fighter. Theres just no need to be hard on Van Damme just because hes never made it be in the fighting world. I know many professionally fighters that never made it big, but I would never bad mouth them.

        well

well guys from what i have seen : no one could kick like he does , he has incredible leg muscles and a carved body like he is a statue or something, so i think if he competed as a kickboxer , he would definetly go far.......ps: watch kickboxer

And do you know to make this judgement? What have you seen?

Don't judge someone's fighting abilities from the movies they played in!
The actors look as good or as bad as the director wants them to look.
Movies are fake, they are fantasy. Actors simply play roles.

Heh, your right. All I have seen are his movies. But the guy obviously knows something about the martial arts, and knows how to keep in very good shape. If he can't fight then he'd be damn easy to teach.

                      He's from Belgium.
And besides Savate is a serious Fighting Art. Van Damme is not a serious fighter... nor a serious actor for that matter either!

Yes, Van Damme has a legitimate 1. dan Shotokan rank. What other training he has, I don't know.

And Dolph Lundgren still is an active Kyokushin karateka, with 3rd or 4th dan black belt. He is quite popular visitor in Swedish Kyokushin camps and seminars. He lived in Australia when he was a young university student and worked as a bouncer as well as competed in full contact bare knuckle knockdown tournaments, winning several. Lundgren is also the only Kyokushin karateka who has KO'd every opponent in his black belt rank test (where you fight several opponents in a row with Kyokushin knockdown rules). If I remember correctly it was his 2nd dan test with 20 opponents to fight in a row.
