I don't know of any books, but there are a lot of good video tapes out there. Vut Kamnark's are very good, as is the series by Rob Kaman (a great technical fighter...he also beat Ernesto Hoost). My advice would be to watch them and then practice the moves in front of the mirror (shadow boxing) starting slow and working on clean technique. it's really not a substitute for a good trainer, but it is a start in the right direction.

Book vs Gym
Infinite Light, reading books to catch up on updates or methods is good but nothing beats going to the gym, doing the pad work, doing the bag work, getting some one on one time with a coach and sparring.
Some people train on their own, but they've allready trained with a coach for a few years or train with other fighters.
