    hello,

it is possible they refer to the pounds per square inch formula? in this case an elbow hits harder than a punch and a knee hits harder than a kick (this of course assumes everything is executed properly.....

still, wouldn't want to rely on them to the exclusion of the others.

    thanks

Love the axe elbow. I like the hook elbows too. Perfect when you're face to face.

            hello,

            misspelling.

would like to rely on buddhas palm strike. while levatating.

again, a joke based on a post.

the premise was statements about what would be preferrable to rely upon in a striking type fight.

and yes. we were talking elbows and knees. are we done explaining ourselves?

read the thread. its all there.

            enjoy.

            thanks

                        • I'd put my money on the MT fighter, he has a larger arsenal than the boxer, and if he knows how to use it, it can be devastating.

How ever I do believe that you learn to defend yourself effectively faster by practicing western boxing in that you don't have to learn as many techniques.

Also most fights start with an "interview". (What are you looking at etc.) And doing this smack talk session the aggressor will usually try to get close enough to suckerpunch you.

Do you realize he's calling you out? I made reference to some old Muay Thai saying which went something like that, hoping someone would know what the proper order was. It also included "kick beats punch" because obviously you can kick someone but they can't punch you back. That's why you can defend with foot jabs. It's a range issue (translation for fucking idiots and Garland: kick go farther than punch. so kick hit. punch dont). What does this have to do with boxing versus kickboxing? Well, a boxer doesn't kick, but a kickboxer does, so since kick beats punch... god... you're fucking dumb...

Yes, you do have a teenage angst problem. Nice pics by the way. I hope you finally find the mailorder husband you're looking for. What are you, posing? No one gives a **** what you look like... twat.

                            • Closing the distance... wow it's that easy? Mike Tyson spent a whole lot of time training to close the distance on fighters who had longer reach. Buakaw destroyed Masato (a trained boxer and kickboxer much superior in skill than you) in K-1 just using teeps because it was just that easy. A teep isn't even an offensive kick in general and it still allowed him to control the fight.

The saying is just a general rule of thumb because if you're in close enough to punch, you can close it up (provided you have your opponant against the ropes or a wall in a street fight or are assuming opponants behave like stationary heavy bags) and elbow someone in the face and prevent any punches from even being thrown - elbow beats punch. Obviously this isn't meant to dictate what you do in a fight or even in a street fight, because a street fight is all about knocking the other guy down, and dragging him by the foot into a telephone pole and breaking his knee with a stomp, which has nothing to do with boxing or muay thai besides fitness.

Oh you hate outboxers... is that what you cry about when you get "outboxed"? You seem to me as someone who has never been in a fight or is bullying people 2 weight classes down, because you can't just say "Why waste the time tip-toeing at long range when you can CLOSE and put the bastard in a body bag" and walk up to someone and start throwing elbows and knees. If you think that way, you're gonna go in and down with broken ribs and a kicked in soloplex. Why do you think muay thai includes kicks?

                              god, I hate dumb kids.

                              • I'd like to clarify the three types of muaythai fighters as they are classified by Thais.
1 The technical fighter: Nimble on his feet, fast and beautiful weapon execution and defense technique. Good all round fighter. Good eyes. Weaknesses, weapons lack decisive knocking authority, and not so durable, both physical and endurance. Likely to loose to clinchers (knee fighters).
2 The clincher: Great stamina, and very durable. can absorb heavy punishment and wear down his opponent. Knee is the primary weapon. Weaknesses, slow and sometime approach opponent with loose guard. Can get KOed by punch or elbow. It's rare to see a clincher go down by kick. Thais call these fighters "invester". They use their body as capital, and suffer physical damage. Most likely to loose by KO to puncher. Fighting span is quite short due to damage suffered.
3 The puncher Decisive KO power. Like clincher, weapons are limited. Generally good with both hands and elbows plus heavy leg kick. Usually, it's jab to open guard, followed by straight KO punch. Other wise, it's jab to draw attention away and then leg kick to drop guard. However, can be slower than technical fighter.
Weaknesses, not good endurance, but quite durable. Most likely to loose to technical fighter, because a puncher cannot get close or be quick enough to deliver knock out blow.

From above, you can see it's a triangle. Technical fighter usually beat a puncher who will beat a clincher who in turn will beat the technical fighter. Generally speaking.
