Time for a stupid question.....

I've been trying to figure something out and I was wondering if someone could help me.....

What are those ankle-brace type things that Muay Thai and kickboxers wear on their feet? All the guys in K-1 wear them I've noticed. I have never heard of an actual name for those or what purpose they serve. Nobody at my gym wears them so I don't know anything about them.

Could someone tell me what these are called? Thanks

we call those simply Muay Thai footgear or simply ankle bands, they just serve to keep the feet bound yet still flexible and bare.
