Wow! Saturday Trevor "Little Bang" Osborn stepped into the ring and represented the Mushin crew with great heart and skill against former 2X UCE champ Robert Aviles. Trevor is trained by forum member Brian Yamasaki and the Trevor competed for the UCE's NHB crown in his division.
Avilles charged Osborn at the bell; however, Osborn protected himself and responded in kind showing great standup skills. Avilles may have been the agressor but he also toasted himself by the end of the round and Trevor wasn't phased and he was bouncing around in his corner between rounds like the fight hadn't even started.
The second round had Osborn making the advances and scoring the shots. Aviles got desperate and clinched, the fighters went to the ground with Avilles in Osborn's guard. Aviles dropped shot after shot and Osborn just worked the defense until Aviles left an arm behind and once again "little bang" locked in a picture perfect armbar. It was sharp! The fight was over.
Trevor could have gone another 5 rounds, his opponent was ready for the oxygen. During his interview (the show is tape-delay televised in Utah) after the fight Trevor was extremely respectful of his opponent and his training group. He showed some real class and some great skill.
Trevor is now a 2X UCE champ himself. The guy is a machine.
In case your wondering why I posted a NHB/MMA story here, I have two reasons.
1. Trevor's base is Muay Thai
2. Many of the TBA members on this forum will remember Brian from previous TBA camps (He is a student of Wil Bernales) and I thought those forum members would appreciate a story of how one of their own is doing as a coach/trainer.
