  • Need advice!

Hi all. I'm thinking about joining a Muay Thai camp but I have one major concern: my FLEXIBILITY.

I can barely do a round house kick above mid thigh level and I have trouble pointing my toes. Above all, I don't even think I know how to kick at all - it just doesn't come naturally.

Will flexibility, or lack thereof, be a problem in learning Muay Thai??

    Please help with some advice.

    Thanks.

    Welcome aboard.

Since no one else has chimed in here, let me be the first to say, Way to go. You're taking the first step by starting to train and you have already started assessing your perceived weekness. Flexibility is very important to Muey Thai, as well as any other art. Flexibility doesn't come over night, but by constant streaching. Once you get into a school, you'll find ways to increase your flexibility, and power with your kicks. Your instructor will help you a lot in this aspect. Don't get frusterated if it doesn't happen overnight. Progress comes over time. There are also many good streaching gadgets on the market. A good place to start looking is at ebay.

u guys just dont seem to get it. u join a ma to learn skills u dont have. if u arent flexible, or in shape, or cant do this in that, thats even more reason for u to join. if u could do all that shit already then why would u want to join ?

" uh, i dont know how to kick at all, mabye i should wait to join muay thai"

      wtf kinda reasoning is this?

It's normal, people are afraid of looking foolish, not accepting that we all look foolish our first day, it's the ones that keep coming back the realize that in the end there are always things we will look foolish doing but new people will think you are awesome.

Go train, they will teach you what you need to know. After a few months of training, if they haven't shown you what you need to know, then ask us and we will probably be able to give you some tips.

        good luck
