i really dont like the fact that the women i spar with try to go full force with me. alot of times i end up getting pounded because some woman was trying her hardest to hurt me while im going light on them. the girls i spar with dont seem to want to work their techniuqes and speed and form, they instead just wanna wail on the guys. i dont really know wtf this man hating mentality is, but im getting pretty pissed about it. if i was to use full force on these girls i spar with they would get seriiously injured. u all know that in muay thai, the techniques should never be performed at full force during sparring since they can be devastating, thats why i dont think its cool when chicks think its ok for them to do so. i really have no choice but to drop these bitches now, because im not down with risking injury because some chick feels the need to project how tough she is to compensate for her insecurities.
what do u guys think? any of u in similar situations? how do u deal with man hating ho's trying to go full force with u ?

Anyone, male or female, who just "takes martial arts," I wouldn't consider to be a real martial artist. A real martial artist is one who takes extra time to practice their martial art, and conditions properly too (i.e. doesn't get to blackbelt yet can only do 15 pushups or something stupid like that). Actually, a decent instructor wouldn't let that happen in my opinion.
But you know, than thus a real female "martial artist" is a woman who trains hard in martial arts, but usually respects all martial artists, and isn't the type who has to "prove" herself by beating up guys in a dojo.
But she conditions good too as I said, so it's not like she's some small girl pounding on some guy, where, god forbid if the guy hit her like that, she'd drop. In her case, the guy can hit back too.

Now instead of working your techniques and skills against them you're just "drop(ing) these bitches now"? Sure you are
If you dont give your opponent upmost respect what do you expect them to do? They will earn your respect. It's not about whether you drop them or they drop you anyways. You need to get over that competitiveness. The only one you should be competitive against is yourself and getting better at what you do, developing your skills etc. Perhaps their manhating on you because you act like you're above sparring women. If your instructor teaches and allows you to spar women, the least you could do is respect that.

As for the girls going full force and wailing the crap out of you, perhaps your defense needs work!Seriously, though, here's a story: After I had been training for about 6 months, my instructor told me that the guys were complaining to him that I hit too hard! He basically told them to give up the macho bullshit and that they should tell me themselves (of course, they didnt). The fact is, I had no idea that I was actually hurting anybody! Years of conditioning to the idea that a girl can't hurt you when she hits you had stuck. Maybe you should let them know, because they might not realize it. It may have nothing to do with her "insecurities." Societal conditioning works both ways. Men can be conditioned to not let a girl KNOW that what she is doing is working (punches, locks, etc.) "I Can't look like a wuss in front of the rest of the guys!" Communication between training partners is essential.

I have only trained with women once and I did not like it. we were doing controlled sparing and the first woman I worked out with tried to kill me, she was hitting me so hard and being such an ass my instructor (we were visiting his friends school) had to say something to her instructor. And afterwords I had to spar with her friend and I hit her with a weak jab and knocked her down. Needless to say I felt like a bullly. Im not trying to make any generalised statements about training with women, this is just my one experiance. Also an aquaintance of mine trains jui-jitsu at a local school and they have about half girls in his school and he says except for the occasional nudity they have no problems.

Originally posted by KZLI dunno if I have a view on female martial artists in general. I don't like hasty conclusions, but I can speak to the girls that I've trained with over the years. There have been fewer, and they run the gambit, just like guys. Some are pretty tough, some arn't. Some have drive to learn, and some have no drive at all. Overall, I'd say that fewer women have had "the eye of the tiger", but as the sample set is so much smaller than the guys I've trained with, it's hard to say. Some of the best form I've seen has come from girls, but still....I don't think they're hitting as hard as I do, and I'm not a big guy.
I don't have any problems with training with women except the double standard that always gets applied. I think if you are in a system with rankings, the tests for those rankings should be equally difficult for man or woman. I would expect a woman testing for black belt in our kenpo society to execute the same kicks, throws, take-downs, ect that a guy would.
I'm not saying that they have to be as strong, just as skilled.
I agree 100%. Why should there be a difference? Self defense is self defense. If your school has seperate rules for the women, how are they learning to defend themselves? If they only spar with other women, what is that going to prove? Ability at Point sparring means nothing on the street. Women can develop their technique to be just as effective as a man at defending herself on the street. In the ring where there are rules and boundaries, it is another story. In a real fight, you use all the dirty tricks that would never be allowed in sport fighting.
It is also possible for a woman to develop power that will knock you out of your shoes (Training Iron palm is a good start). I agree that most women lack the power that a man has. This is why it is important to train technique and strike soft targets that don't require a lot of power to be effective.

nah man. this is a real issue about a few women at my school who act this way, not jsut on me, but on everyone else too, and its a bonafide issue. its not me being sexist, or thinking a girl cant hit hard, or any of the other bs u guys are trying to pin on me. theres a big double standard here, and there are certain people who feel the need to prove something due to ego problems, and insecurities.
some chicks are really hot and i cant really concenrate on anything else when they are around and just blatanlty check the out instead. so yeah, chicks really just hinder my training.
