    Dwayne, you just asked all the right questions.

    Maybe I'll see if I can get some footage up on the web site of what I'm talking about, I think some people may be misunderstanding what I am saying.

    Kyoshu, good point, but it works pretty well on me, I'm 6' and not lanky. I had the same questions as Dwayne, too about the other stuff.

    I think my jkd instructor used the half square, but never called it that way..it looks like "snake peeks over log" or whatever the kung fu fellers call it. ..if it's what I'm thinking of..

    the 45 angle leg check sounds like a standard thai shield position, but maybe the foot is behind the knee more, rather than vertically under it..to make it more of a deflection angle..

    these are guesses..
