  • Shin Splints

HELP!!! Somehow with my kicks I have gotten shin splints ... unfortantly I have no idea how (any ideas on what to do to prevent them in the future?)... Also, what am I supposed to do to treat shin splints? How long do they usually last, and am I able to still train while I have them? Thanks in Advance.

Make sure you do a LOT of stretching before, during, and after training.

I get shin splints sometimes too ... esp. after lotsa skipping then kicking the bag.

So you may wanna look up various stretches for your shins + shin area.

I do like 3 types of stretches for my shins and they seem to help it A LOT.
Also, before + during bag work, you may wanna put some ice-gel on yer shins ...

one last thing... if you go to Walmart or The Body Shop or some store like that... find a "muscle soak" bubble bath bottle. They work REALLY well with not just yer shins, but yer entire body.

    Hope this helps

I learned a good stretch to help avoid them when I was in the Corps. Whenever you're outside near a curb or something that rises a couple inches off the ground, put your toes on the very edge of the highest part and your heel on the ground below. Then just bend forward at the waist and touch your toes and hold that stretch.

            Avoiding Shin Splints

And at the same time, sprained ankles
I learned this from the US Olympic Track Coach. Walk on your heels for 4 minutes a day. Everyone I tell this to laughs and says how easy it is. Then they actually try it. It works.
