  • Injury - Hole in my leg!!

    Hi Guys / Girls,
I have developed an injury to my right calf and wanted to know if anyone had experienced a similar problem. Not been to the doc yet. I noticed 2 lumps on the side of my calf when I put weight on the leg a couple of months ago. Didn't really think anything of it - thought it was just a bump. Recently though, the calf has been feeling tight and its painfull to kick the bag. I had a feel this morning and the lumps actually seem to be holes! Its on the side of my calf where the muscle joins the shin and when i push my finger on the lump it feels like a hole.
Anyone come across a similar thing?
    Cheers,
    Dave.

The doctor doesn't know what it is and has referred me to a surgeon! Hope they don't chop my leg off! I went to a sports physio last night who also didn't know what it was.
However, after a phone call to my brother I mentioned it to him and he has the same thing on his forearm - must be hereditary. He went to a sports physio who trains with the South African Olympic team and she said it is a tear in the membrane which encloses the muscle. Almost like a hernia, the muscle pokes through and appears to be a lump but when its pressed in, your finger goes into the hole. Apparantly, it won't heal itself but can be surgically sewn up if it causes a lot of pain. She gave him excercises to do which tears it more to relieve the pressure. I think I am just gonna forget about it and pretend its not there. lump..... what lump - you're crazy!
