  • Going Old School

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good books, websites, videos, etc, that show any of the older muay forms, or any of the other south-east Asian (including Indian) "kickboxing" (i.e. standing) Styles.

I want to learn as much as I possibly can about; Muay Boran, Muay Chaiya, Muay Paak Klang, Muay Lopburi, Muay Ayuthaya, Muay Uttaradit, Muay Chaing Rai, Paak Eesaan/ Muay Korat, Muay Maa Yang, Lethwei, Kalarippyat, Yaw Yan, Krabbi Krabbrong, etc etc etc...

I'm also interested in the different techniques of different regional muay thai camps in Thailand, everything from different wrapping methods, variations in stances, ram muay, little nicities on how the strikes and prummbing vary...with as much detail as possible...even the old forms that practice solitary...almost, forms that look like kata...training methodologies (i.e. different ways of doing roadwork, bag work, pad work, and all different types of conditioning.)

I want to learn as much as I can about my art, and it's traditions, it's history, it's evolution, and everything about it. I love muay thai.

I have something you might be interested in. 277 pages of information. Send me an email if you want a copy, or PM me. If I could post this on the forum I would, but its pretty large (7.88 Mb). Too large to send in email, and would take too much bandwidth for my little FTP server. Any ideas?

      Garland:
The person who has that type of training, skill and across the board knowledge in the US is Vincent Giordano. I traveled around, trained with and did as best research I can as I absolutely love the old material but I never found anyone else with quite the same depth. Even some of the old masters admit this as he was one of the few to begin this sort of research and training before many others. He has three books coming out ont he old methods: one on bare knuckle fighitng in se asia and india, one on weapons and one on the wrestling methods. his email is blackdiamondcobra@yahoo.com, see if you can join onto his email list. He is about to travel about from what I heard to se asia but at least you have a contact to the genuine unfabricated material. I will be returning to thailand to live to continue fighting muay thai and doing more research in about two months as well.

You could upload the file as a torrent file, then we could download it this way. Places like torrentreactor.net or any others. Just search Bittorrent on google. And if it asks you to pay, its a scam. This is freeware. After you load it up just post the link. I'm interested also.

Also, you could send it over AIM. My friend sends me pictures and stuff, I assume you could send this file. You have to be in "DirectIM Connection."

How dangerous for my financial future. Yet rewarding for me. My hopes and dreams are years ahead of my current abilities. Hopefully when those years arrive I will be better than I had dreamed. Thanks for the link.

Ahhh, that's Villalobos' school. I just got his (and his partner's) book, "Fighting Strategies of Muay Thai." I like it.
