  • The tsunamis?

This could be seen as slightly off topic, but here goes. I was searching back in the pages all the way to page 10. Thats Nov 2004. Not once did I see any threads about the tsunamis that hit in Dec (it was Dec. Right? Like Dec 14ish I thought). I even saw a post from a gym in Phuket (http://www.rawaimuaythai.com/) on like Dec 6ish, painful irony I think. Anyway, I just thought it was odd. Good vibes and well wishes to all those affected by the original tsunamis and those that followed. I pray that he/she/it watches over you/yours/theirs.

There was plenty of coverage in the US as well, mainstream and ethnic media outlets.

Oh, there was tons of coverage in everything, from the news to the surfing bb's and all the surfing magazines. I was just shocked because on this bb I didn't see anything, no posts about it or anything. On surfermag's bb there were tons of posts, tons of links to aid/charities/donations, and some of it still pops up every now and then. But anyway, my heart to all affected.

I think one of the reasons you did not see anything here on the tsunamis is because I and for a great part we on the forum try to follow the Thai way of thinking. You don't think about problems and worry about them you let what happens happen. You give Buddha thanks and you move on. I was in Phuket after the tsunamis and business was normal. The Thai people are strong and make the best of a bad situation. I not once heard a local talk about the tsunamis first, if someone asked they would talk about it if not they kept it to them selves.

Hmmmm, I didn't know that about Thai culture. It's a good way of thinking, much less stress.
