Thanks aseepish that's a great help! If I can make £400 last three months then I will try to stay there three times longer!
Had you much experience in MA or MT before you went to Lanna?Would you recommend I try there or maybe find somewhere else more beginner friendly?I for sure will will put my heart and soul into this, I really want to get fit and learn the art!Plus its my money Im spending to go there so I sure as hell don't plan on blowing it on half assed attempt at training, and being distracted by the woman....and cheap drink.....and sunny beaches....this sure will be testing lol!I will check out that forum first thing when I get home tonight from work! Thanks again though this is honestly a great help to me and I appreciate you guys taking the time out!

seppuku:it might not make a dig to the ribs less painful, but might help you hit back a bit stronger....and if all else fails it might help you curl into a ball a lot faster lol!Only jokin, but it will help your balance and agility! Thanks for the good wishes, I hope your Uni work goes well!Good luck with your interview for Cambridge too!

My background is primarily in JKD and BJJ, so while I had relatively decent boxing skills, I had to go back to square one with my kicks since it had been literally years since I had practiced them seriously.

Lanna was actually my second choice. I wanted to train with Ajarn Pedro Villalobos (also in Chiang Mai - http://ancientmuaythai.com ), but unfortunately he was traveling in China the month I arrived. I have heard very good things about Ajarn Pedro (search ancientmuaythai on this forum), and that he is a very good choice for beginners. But I have no regrets about spending my time at Lanna instead.

If you are staying for six months, you might decide to check out both places. Both are in the same general area of Chiang Mai - walking distance from each other (although it's a bit of a long walk).

Here's the thread I started way back when I was planning my own trip - http://www.defend.net/deluxeforums/s...enses+Thailand

I think it's 7000 Bhat per month to train at Lanna now.

I ordered that guys DVD from Lanna-that's gonna be a major help and the site was really informative!A great help
          Thanks again!
p.s. Your idea of travelling to the different gyms/schools could be interesting as it would also allow me to travel a bit more!
          Thanks again!
