Nothing changes somebody's mind about hurting you faster than the red spilling out of them. Except maybe the grey. Then changing their mind is less about fixing something and more about the mess on the floor.

This is my first post and i just wanted to ask a question on combining martial arts.

My question is what would be an effective art to combine with muay thai to assist if, god forbid, I should have to defend myself against a larger opponent?

In my area I have classes in Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, TKD, MMA, Jiu Jitsu, Aikido and a bit further a field there is a Krav Maga class.

      I'm appreciative of any info.

      thanks

"The essence of self-defense is the ability to defend oneself against an attacker using any and all necessary violence of action to end the threat against ones' life. Any weapon is just a tool that we use in defending ourselves. Whether one uses their own body, a knife or a gun to defend themselves, the principle remains the same: that to survive an attack on your life, one must realistically train and be honest with oneself about their self-defense skills."

i would say judo but make sure its not sport judo .....try to find a non-competitive judo club where its a more aggressive style with more emphasis on self defense take downs with some chokes and strangulations.......i think judo will teach excellent groundfighting basics which is all youll ever need in a streetfight( stay off the ground).....and since muay thai is probably one of the most complete styles out there it will compliment it very nicely .....i just joined a non competetive judo/hapkido/taekwondo school and immeadietly noticed a difference in attitude with more emphasis on combat style self defense.
