NO i dont mind the nickname, have at it !
I train right now out of my basement !but i m breaking ground on my new gym in my backyard in the spring!Im in a position with my full time job that i can afford the cost of the gym & if things get bad as far as students go,i wont be hurting.
One of my work out partners owns an opperates a physical therapy biz.We use to have the school thier 2x a week. But we stop that when we didnt have enough time to train ourselves .& thats what we really wanted more time to train & more training partners. So we stop that an went back to training out of our homes.later wu

Lol, that's why I stopped teaching, people were expecting me to "teach". I wanted to work out with them.

Thats a tough balancing act.I would like to think that i could make a living out of my martial arts knowledge but the farther i get from what i think REALLY works seems to be what people want to learn!!Im getting to old for that!!To litttle time to train the things i have in my head let alone the stuff i have stockpiled in note books!!
Thats why i went to a GYM (wu-shin gym) atmosphere than a school. It cuts my teaching time in 1/2 an allows my students to really work the things ive shown in 30 min. Then the rest of the time i train (1hr).I divide the arts that i teach so it allows me to train an 1 hr in each art insstead of show somthing work for 10-15 min then move on .
The added benifit to your students is that you work with them 1 on 1 more .It makes them feel that they get more attention (bcuz they do)but you still get to move & get a work out.
The jury is still out on kids classes ?Should i bother?
        Any thoughts? later wu

Exactly, sometimes I think I could make more money teaching things that I believe has nothing to do with actual fighting. Not alot of people want to get hit and sweat. But, I think once they actually start doing it, most people will enjoy it. The way I try to explain it to people is, "hey, it couldn't hurt you to experience someon trying to take your head off, right.........look over here.....se we have this mask so nobody gets hurt.........no these masks are great, you don't even really feel it much......here try it on........ok, lets try it, jabs only, about 25 to 30%, ok?"

One thing that I learned when trying to get guys out stickfighting with me is "salesmanship".

The childrens class unfortunately wouldn't be able to train as hardd as the adults, maybe under 14 could learn basic self-defense, boxing, and positioning/escapes on the ground. Keep me updated on your gym, WU.
