  • Looking to Build my own Heavy bag stand...

Reason being the ones on the market are just too big and not what i'm looking for (speed bag/heavybag combo).
Anyone can put me in the right direction or has anyone done this themselves?
basicly, i just want a simple stand, thats not gonna take too much space and give me the room to low kick the bag without too much obstruction on the bottom of the stand.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Ray

    Is there???

Is there someplace where you can mount it to a sturdy wall?

How about a wave master kicking bag, the are pretty good, and they dont take up much space at all, you can find them at any sporting goods store and thier relativley cheap, look into that as an option, good luck

I'm interested in this too... I just took a big army duffel bag someone gave me and filled it with old t-shirts, etc. and clipped it up with some caribeners... but it's not nearly as good as a real heavybag.

I already have the bag unfortunately. just need to figure out a way to make a metal tree or some type of candy cane shaped stand.

Have you got access to welding equipment? Wood is not the way to go, so i think you need to design and weld together a steel tube framework then bolt it to the floor. If youve got no experience welding this may be difficult. As far as design, be keen on triangles and you should be fine. Find a guide to welding and framework structures on google.

Very best of luck to you. Metalwork is frustrating as hell but feels good if you finish

                Makin you own.

Yes steel would be better but for all you non- welders out there here you go.
From the man who built two Mook Jongs by hand.....

Ok if you make it without bolting it to the ground, it's still gonna have to weigh alot.
The best thing I have seen or come up with myself is like this

You know what a swing set looks like? Two V's pointed open end down facing away from each other, with a center beam connecting them end from end
it looks like a fireplace log holder turned upside down?
You build one of those high enough to keep the bag about 6 inches from the ground.
This is important if you hang the bag higher than 6 inches it will tip the whole thing over when you get going good on it.

Take the two V's about 8 feet apart and hang the bag in the center.
So you'll need some 4x4's. You'll need 1 eight foot 4x4 this will be your cross beam. You'll need about 4 4x4's that are approimatley 12 feet long to creat the V shaped ends. The angle you'll have to guess and check on this but cut one end on each one at a 45 degree angle and bolt these ends together then bolt them to the cross beam. Use 3 inch long 1/4 inch wide Lag bolts to do this. To create more stability you could but T's on the ends of your legs of the V's to reduce any rocking that would occur. if you get the angle's right and the height right it should be rock solid dude, and you can move around the whole bag.
