This weekend (February 24 and 25) was
the USA x CANADA SAVATE ASSAUT RENDEZVOUS
in Bristol Pennsylvania, USA.
This was the first ASSAUT competition organized in the USA! The event was organized by Moniteur Armando Basulto and Moniteur Norman Taylor of the New Jersey Savate Federation.
The 12 member team for Canada was a very strong team with a mix of fighters of different levels, both men and women.
The USA team of men and women was mostly from the New Jersey Savate Federation with Norman Taylor and Armando Basulto as captains. There was also a contingent of fighters from the Maryland Savate Group.
There were many great fights and everyone had an opportunity to compete, be an arbiter or work in the corner. It was a great learning experience because this was the first time in the ring for many of the fighters.
It was a great demonstration of beautiful Savate Boxe Francaise techniques!
A writer from a martial arts magazine was in attendance and will be writing an article very soon.
We hope to do another REDEZVOUS in Canada later this year so we can develop our competition teams here in North America.
