Basically been training muay thai for a year only twice a week and I've been going gym however I found a good Thai boxing gym, bags, ring etc so I want to know should I quit the gym and join this thaiboxing place my only concern is that I still want to build muscle and I'm worried I wont get bigger while doing muay thai should i just buy a few weights for home if i join this place? I was told gyms are not really necessary neither are weights to get bigger... advice anyone?

getting bigger and doing muay thai in general is very difficult, since muay thai is such hard cardio. I train 3 times a week for two hours each time, and i take in about 5000 calories a day to maintain weight ( granted I do have a very high metabolism). I think you can get bigger with a set of 50 lb dumbbells, maybe buy the the plate ones that allow to mix the weight up., it takes a little time changing them up but a space saver. And stick a weight training that is muscle specific that way it requires less weights! But you will have to take in a LOT of calories to counter act the calories burned during training! So guess I say yes ditch the regular gym join the thai gym and buy a set of dumbells!!Originally posted by Knowledge Bot View PostBasically been training muay thai for a year only twice a week and I've been going gym however I found a good Thai boxing gym, bags, ring etc so I want to know should I quit the gym and join this thaiboxing place my only concern is that I still want to build muscle and I'm worried I wont get bigger while doing muay thai should i just buy a few weights for home if i join this place?
