The leg break is always accidental and not because of low leg kick , the style and strategy may sometimes depends on the opponents , I really felt sorry for those guys , Lets keep it in mind that we are all fighters and with us are the luck that we still stick around and kick some a** , In this sport , we are all winners and no matter if we break a leg or not we are standing there as winners, keep your heads up fellow fighters...

YouTube - Adam Schumacher Leg Break at MMA High Stakes
Adam Schumacher v Jake Klemme
a perfect illustration of what happens when it is a shin block not a raised knee just to save the thigh
by the way you can see what kind of damage takes the shin that was used to block

Muay Thai low kick leg breaks
Any body ever tried the lower Muay Thai kick in real life street fight?
Its a common kick used in kick boxing/ Muay thai fights , wanted to know if some one actually did that in any street fight and actually managed to break the opponents leg bone

Is this usually because of bad shin conditioning? What can you do to help condition? I've heard the best tool is a heavy bag, banana trees are ridiculous, rolling, pins, coke bottles, etc...what do you guys use? Just the bag or something else as well?
