It is amazing, we have found FOUR Muay Thai Camps that are in the back yards of Muslim Villages in Krabi South Thailand. What an amazing Old School experience, I am a Christian and these Muslims have no problems accepting me as family ... WHY?? ... Muay Thai FAMILY Rocks!!

why on earth would muslims treat you any differently because you are christian?
why would they not accept you. have you never met muslims before or something? lol

people are people, dont let religion cloud your mind, i have no idea why it needs to be mentioned in a thread what religion the school is mostly comprised of, its entirely irrelevant and will not affect your experience.

Excellent point ... I guess it is an American thing ... media Fears and USA brain washing.

There are Muslims here that are getting aggressive, preaching HELL and Fire and to stay away from other religions BUT again that is what religion produces.

I have some Muslim friends in the south of Thailand and they never talked about religion and never cared. Actually it was me who talked about religion first ! It's just a minority that make trouble, Thais are Thais and I have been treated well by Buddhists, Muslims and Christians. There's no need to differentiate.

It's just bigotry, and hypocrisy since originally being a buddhist practice, muay thai is forbidden by the koran which strictly prohibits muslims from taking part the practices of other religions/faiths, yet here they practicing it themselves.

Muay thai should be free from any sort of social divisions, it's pathetic. This reminded me of a racist mcdojo I came across who displayed similar double standards.

The late kru Tong was Muslim, he had many students and taught Buddhists and Muslims alike. I also met a Muslim muay chaiya teacher and one of his students who was Buddhist, there were no problems at all with religions. I know that Muslims teachers tend to be more secretive than others when it comes to teaching and showing their art, but there are some who teach more openly.
As far as Muay Thai being a Buddhist art, I think it's a fighting art first and foremost. Being born and bred in a Buddhist country like Thailand it is infused with Buddhist culture, beliefs and practice.
If you look at Silat, the same happens with Islam. That's another great interest of learning MA, it goes well beyond techniques. In the end it's universal if you look beyond barriers.
