Quick shifts in direction for example off a catch: a quick pull back to off-balance them toward you and immediately shift direction and drive into them with an elbow or a clothes line/forearm smash to the head/neck. Also using variations off of counters and angling foot work. It tends to be a very effective maneuver when the opportunity is there.

You want me to give away my secrets fire cobra-san?

Well, you know the old saying: "for every technique there is a counter". Actually I prefer to say it this way: "For every technique there is a window of opportunity to counter". If you can't counter before that window closes, you most likely aren't getting out of it.

Along the lines of what I was describing for the catches, the window shuts very quickly so the counters have to be thrown immediately. Counters are also much more successful if your opponent hesitates or doesn't lock the leg in tightly. My two favorites involve spearing with the knee and driving the "post through the Hole". Harder to pull off if they yank you forward and then drive through, though it can again set up the spear for you.

          LOL nice one Wlliam.

I like the way you describe the push(spear) with the knee as driving a post through the hole.

A counter I like is to quickly grab the neck on the same side as the leg that is caught and jump up with a elbow from the opposite side arm.

          Thanks bro.

            Nice.

A variation on that one that I like is when you grab the head/neck on the same as the leg that is caught is to essentially do a teep. Pull against their head as you thrust the leg forward and drive it through their arm that is holding it. It forces the arm open and lands you right in the clinch position. Nail them with the left elbow (if they had the right leg) as you square up, or go straight to the clinch which generally gives you the control position.

            Fun fun fun!!
