I would take it easy as you work your way into yoga, rest up then go in and try again. Space it at the beginning. Vinyasa flow is where the exercises flow into one another and keep moving which you can move into later. Yoga has sequences for hip opening, etc. There is also hot yoga which is bikram but you should have some basics before that.

I would also invest in a jump rope and start mastering that if you havent worked that in awhile too because it pays dividends in training.

All these things will add up in class. If the class is close to your house then its motivation to keep going and get a base level of training in then you can advance from there.

Hardball- Thanks for the advice, I'll try to look that book up, maybe I can even find it at the library!
Garland- Gutted! I hate it when that happens!
George- The video was definately the flowing kind of yoga! I'd just manage to get myself into position and then she would be all like " pick up your right hand and wave towards the sun...return to downward dog!" I felt like I was playing a really sadistic game of twister! ROFL! I never really got the point of hot yoga...honestly just thought it was some kind of celebrity fad! As for skipping, that is one thing that I can do very very well! Have a skipping rope, can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it and for extended periods of time. I've been whipping it out recently...don't think my neighbours appreciate it so much! LOL!
I'm all impatient to get started...wish the first class was tomorrow and not in a few weeks!

Hot yoga helps relax the muscles, you can get more out of them because it increases their elasticity...that's the theory behind it. It also helps you sweat out toxins and water calories...and can help you trance out if you like that sort of thing.

Jump rope...erg...I 'effin hate it...but it is SO good for you, and probably one of the best cardio exercises you can do for boxing or any type of combat sport because it develops foot work, timing, and rhythm...and other things goofy duck footed individuals like me were born with a diminished capacity for.

        Keep that mentality!
