  • van damme to fight somluck

Ok this is absolutely crazy, van damme is obviously having a mid life crisis. But this is not how you fix it... You buy a new sports car or somethiing. He's gonna get killed.
Apparently they will fight under k1 style rules - no elbows. Not sure all of the details on this but its interesting. I would love to watch it, that is unless its some stunt to try to revive his career. I would be highly disappointed if it was fixed. Well maybe someone else could shed some more light on this. Maybe it will be televised accross the world or at least on the net

Van Damme has been claiming he was going to fight somluck for awhile. I guess his career on the dvd only downslide and he wants to be taken as a real contender or as someone who can actually fight. Problem is they are saying somluck is a featherweight and i dont think van damme is anywhere near close to a featherweight, so what weight is this bout going to be fought at. I think its just good publicity for both of them. Somluck is close to 40 and looking to fight other international stars!

""""Thailand’s Olympic featherweight boxing champion Somluck Kamsing will fight international martial arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme in a K1 MuayThai match in Las Vegas in March although there was another report out of Bangkok that said the showdown would be in October.

Thai media reported that the earlier story about a possible match between the 38-year-old Atlanta Olympic Games gold medalist and the 49-year-old Hollywood star has been confirmed after the two fighters signed a contract on December 29 in a Bangkok hotel.

The report said the match will use the muaythai format, although elbows will be disallowed at the request of Van Damme who is an actor and doesn’t want his face cut up or disfigured. Somluck will be paid just over $100,000 which does not include the income from broadcasting.

“I said I wasn’t lying,” said Somluck, referring to his earlier comments about the possibility of this match. The report from Bangkok said Somluck is well known for his tendency to exaggerate things.

The Olympic gold medalist said “I thought he was of much larger stature. But when we were standing next to each other, he wasn’t any bigger than me. So, I’m confident now. I’m better in muaythai techniques and I will have fun kicking the star. However, I won’t be careless and will keep training myself.”

Somluck is also hoping to be able to fight other international martial arts stars.""""

Sounds like the makings of a reality show. Somluck vs the world. Or some shit like that. It would be cool as hell to see. I'd like to see him kick the stuffing out of micheal jai white. I got nothing against him I just am tired of seeing him win I wanna know if its all just show. Wesley would be a good one. Wesley can really bang though.

They should have maliapet fight seagal for the undercard. And let rambaa go against the govenator. Now that would be a great card. It would never happen though. Ill be surprised if this really goes down with van damme. I would be willing to bet he takes a move outa rampages book and decides to go do a movie right before so he can't fight. Which by the way I think that was a. Punk@$$ move. Rashad deserved to lay hands on him for all that mouth. But that's for another thread. Anyway hope to see this go down. Good luck nak soo kaw! Ha ha! Do you know if this will be televised george?

I have no idea how they are going to do this. I imagine they are going to do some sort of televised event because its the only reason van damme would do it for the publicity. Havent heard much about it other than now they are looking at October? thats a damn long way off. The longer off the more reasons for it not to happen.

I will be very surprised if he goes through with it. Who is he working with? He can't be training himself for this.
