  • Leg kick damage

It was a MMA fight for the WEC title between Aldo and Faber, aldo was wild but his leg kicks made the difference in the fight. Faber seemed to have very little answer for the multiple leg kicks.

It was an awesome display of taking apart your opponent with leg kicks! Great fight!

Kinda suprising since Fabers style also includes kickboxing. But he didn't seem to have the slightest clue on how to check lowkicks. And if you watch that picture you'll notice that the bruising is almost entirely on the backside of the leg. A very odd place. Apparently he didn't think it would be necessary to train his legs to absorb damage. Or how to return the favor.

Very surprising since his trainer is Thai but doesnt state his fighting background or camp in thailand:

Master Thong (pronounced Tong) brings his "champion-making" Muay Thai training to Ultimate Fitness. Master Thong has been the main Trainer for 5 World Boxing Champions, 3 Muay Thai World Champs, Buakaw Por Pramuk, World K-1 Champ and Urijah Faber, MMA World Champ. Master Thong has 26 Years of Muay Thai/Boxing experience. Thong trains the professional fighters at Ultimate Fitness and holds quarterly Muay Thai workshops for UF members who want to take their kickboxing technique to the next level.

I have no clue who thats supposed to be. But google does find some conflicting stories bout him. Fabers stand up was simply shit. Strange for someone who's trained by someone with apparently a few hundred fights to his name. However, maybe Faber is just a slow student.

                Hi tick,
yeah, i couldnt figure it out myself. Faber uses a flicky sort of front kick which isnt a tiip or anything and his kicks dont seem muay thai at all. the master thong bio is sketchy on names and places which always makes me wonder. Is faber over building the guy because he teaches at his school?

I liked faber in the past, his speed, his conditioning is always there but after the mike brown losses and now this, he has been exposed as having some serious weaknesses.

It didn't look like much of a kick of any kind. More like lifting up his leg hoping his opponent would walk into it.

Wow, goes to show what can happen when a great athlete pouts his mind to being all around versatile fighter. Faber just doesn't really adapt - he doesn;t change his strategy, which he should, depending on who he;s fightin and waht sort of threats are being posed.
