VAN DAMME VERSUS SOMRAK KHAMSING AT THE END OF 2011
Fairtex has created quite a stir in the martial art world by preparing a special fight between movie star Jean Claude Van Damme and Thai hero Somrak Khamsing at the end of this year in Thailand in a match that will be broadcast live all around the world.
‘Fairtex’ or Banjong Bussarakamwong, the owner of “Fairtex” boxing camp said of Jean Claude Van Damme that the 50-year-old world class actor from Hollywood came to practice boxing in Fairtex camp in Pattaya and has negotiated with the Fairtex camp to be the promoter for a match against Somrak Khamsing, the first Thai boxer to receive a gold medal at the Olympics.
For this special fight, the match will take place on an as yet unconfirmed date between November and December this year. For this event, Banjong Bussarakamwong is currently looking for a suitable location that can hold 30,000 people and may choose the Impact Arena at Muangthong Thani or the Indoor Stadium at Hua Mak because Jean Claude Van Damme has a huge fan club and for sure there will be a large press contingency who will want to witness the fight. The deal for the live broadcast is also being considered as well.
As for Banjong Bussarakamwong of Fairtex who is chosen to be the promoter of this important big fight, he was also responsible for signing the contract for Van Damme and Somrak to fight at Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok the other day. The deposit amount of 200,000 baht has also been given to Somrak.
