  • Anthony Demaio

    Hey guys
i remember we had a thread here on anthony demaio where someone was asking about training with him but i cant find it, looks like it popped up again on sherdog and they mention our thread(so i know it was here buried somewhere)!

the info here is the same as ours but a little more detailed,---seems anthony is claiming ajaan status and having 100 fights in 6 years!!! Claims titles too!

"I just picked up on this thread while in bangkok and just back from a year there training in thailand. While there i checked into de maio. His boasts of 100 fights is absurd. He fought he says for 6 years and if he fought every single month for 6 years STRAIGHT, he could only amass 72 fights TOPS! We know he didnt do that not by a long shot. I watched his fight against nong tum and it was an embarassment, he was disqualified after being beaten by a so so muay thai fighter. I dont know any thai or foreigner dq'd in a major thai bout so he does have the distinction of that black eye. I also saw a fight in phnom pneh where he was demolished in liek the first round by an elbow then a fight in which he boxed and he lost that. Sure we give accolades to anybody who gets in the ring in thailand or elsewhere but when they over inflate their claims its easy to investigate and prove. Being DQ'd in a major arena televised fight my thai teacher said its the worst black eye to muay thai he had ever seen or witnessed, demaio also was billed as a boxer and not a muay thai fighter for some odd reason. This is not a person that should be representing muay thai in any way, shape or form. I mean we live in the modern world and the modern age where things can be checked and verified. Rompo gym also is not a great gym and never was, it has since changed hands and is steadily growing. Demaio also from a flyer i saw bills himself as an ajarn which again is stretching it. I would assume also his record is probably from what the thais tell in the vicinity of 30 bouts with at least half of those losses but i couldnt confirm that info
Myth building is good but in the face of reality often comes crashing down. Theres also a thread on defend.net where i picked up on it as well"

Plus here is one of the horrific fights the poster mentions, anthony has no balance, in the clinch gets tossed, cant check a kick without getting knocked down and elbowed out in one round in cambodia. looks like a guy with like 10 or less fights:

YouTube - ‪Phin Sophal (Khmer) vs. Some WhiteBoy(American)‬‏

Hey at least he fought as the guy says but he should not overstate his record and ability as he does, it destroys his credibility and ajaan he is not at least not in six years of being a fighter and not a trainer, maybe in another decade of training people.

I assume from the info, he is saying he is a top fighter and trainer and trying to build his rep up in NY or wherever he is from

This guys crazy. Bottom line. I have a few fights of his and he lost them all. He's not that great. And in no way close to an arjarn. I was told by someone who knew him and someone who knows muay especially well, that they had told him he was not ready for a fight in cambodia and he fought anyway. And got knocked out. I have that fight its over in the first round. A lot of people are after that dollar so they build themselves up to make themselves look good, but it always makes them look like fools.
